Ethella was drawn to the light filled spaces, beautiful gardens, and soft, floral surroundings at Hildene. It was everything they envisioned for their day. I knew I was going to play with light to bring their sentiments of wanting their wedding to feel joyful, warm, and full of life - a true celebration not only of their love, but of being surrounded by the friends and family who mean the most to them.

A mix of 35mm film, 120 film, digital, drone, point and shoot, and 645 medium format.

I see myself as a little collector of human connection. This has always been my way of relating to the world and seeking my place in it. How are we alike, what do we do? What is this dance? This dream? I meet myself in others and find that we are the same. I am an observer before I am a photographer. I am a photographer before I am a wedding photographer. “And everything else is pictures picked up along the way.”

“Our goal from day one was to have an anti-wedding-wedding. Minimal traditional wedding, maximal fun & celebration of our love.” Kim and Harley’s commitment to authenticity was in every fashion choice down to their decision to have the wedding at their summer home in Southampton. Harley’s mother refused about 15 wedding requests for the property. It was saved for him so it was extremely special for her and her husband to host. “A lot of the inspiration for design/creative decor was inspired by her and the general vibe of the house/property,” Kim described.

There was fashion, art, no strict timeline, and absolutely nothing controlled or directed. Most of all, the couple wanted it “to be the most fun party where people dance, celebrate and leave with positive memories of an epic time.”

A huge thank you Kim and Harley for making me believe again, to your parents for opening your home, your LA friends for bringing the heat, Rudney and the team for the support and coverage, and Kim (my girl) your undying energy. Cheers and till death do you party.

Yesterday in Central Park with Nina and Michael.

Raised on the UES, it was important for Nina to have photographs of her and Michael in the place so close to her heart. The iconic backdrops of where she was raised are woven into the love story that has presently taken them away from New York, but never far.

They’ll be back together in Manhattan for their wedding at Chelsea Piers next month. Can’t wait!

Before Amy and Jonathan’s rehearsal dinner we took some photographs around the family home. I set Amy up for a portrait here on the wrap around porch. The same one that she ran around on as a child. As soon as she was in position everyone came out and filled the frame with a little chaos. We laughed, and I didn’t hesitate. I shot the frame anyway. Full of family, life, and love, this porch holds more than a picture. And I can’t help but think this is the way it was supposed to be.
