As a drone pilot, continuing to sharpen my skills and stay current with my FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is an important part of my responsibility.

Obtaining your drone certification is about much more than simply learning how to operate a drone. It means understanding the FAA’s rules and regulations, recognizing airspace restrictions, making sound aeronautical decisions, and knowing how to operate safely and responsibly.

A drone is a powerful tool that can capture incredible perspectives, but it also comes with serious responsibilities. Flying carelessly or recklessly can put people, aircraft, and property at risk. That is why proper training, preparation, and situational awareness are essential every time you take to the skies.

Whether you fly commercially or are looking to take your drone operations to the next level, investing in the proper education and certification is a step toward becoming a more knowledgeable, confident, and responsible pilot.

Fly smart. Stay informed. Respect the rules. Protect the people and property around you. 🚁

For Part 107 operations, the FAA requires a Remote Pilot Certificate, and certificated pilots must complete recurrent training every 24 calendar months to maintain currency.

A heartfelt shout-out to the directors of the Sackets Harbor Marathon & Half Marathon 9/6/2026, held on September 6, 2026!

I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this year’s event, and it’s clear that the hard work and dedication behind the scenes made a lasting impression. From the thoughtful goodie bags to the refreshments waiting for runners at the finish line, every detail helped make the experience special.

Although I was not part of the race this year, I’m genuinely happy to see such an amazing turnaround and to hear how much the community and participants enjoyed the event.

To the directors, congratulations on a magnificent job organizing and leading this race. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and encouragement throughout the event truly stood out. And to all the volunteers, thank you for your time, energy, and commitment. Events like this would not be possible without you.

Finally, congratulations to all the runners! Your training, perseverance, and dedication brought you to that starting line, and crossing the finish line was a testament to all your hard work.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today, we pause in solemn remembrance of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation and left an ache in the hearts of countless families around the world.

Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken that day. Behind every number was a name, a face, a family, a dream, and a life that mattered. Today, we remember not only the lives lost, but the loved ones who continue to carry their absence and the memories that time can never erase.

We remember the first responders who ran toward danger while others ran away. Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and ordinary citizens showed extraordinary courage, compassion, and selflessness. Many never made it home, but their bravery continues to remind us of what it means to put the lives of others before our own.

We also remember the days that followed—the moments when strangers became neighbors, when communities came together, and when compassion seemed to rise above our differences. In the midst of unimaginable grief, we found strength in one another.

Twenty-five years later, the pain of that day may feel different, but its meaning has not faded. May we continue to honor the fallen, support the families who still grieve, and teach future generations why remembering matters.

Let us never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the unity that reminded us of our shared humanity.

One day these little hands will grow stronger, these tiny footsteps will carry you farther than I can imagine, and this innocent face will tell stories of a life well lived.

Meet Alan Jacobus Heeren! 🏈🎓

Some people are tough on the football field, fearless on the hiking trails, and always ready for the next camping trip with friends. Then, they head home, grab the PS5 controller, throw on a Spider-Man movie or dive into the Star Wars galaxy. That’s Alan Jacobus Heeren—and that’s what makes him who he is.

Alan is hardworking, determined, and has a bright future ahead, but he’s never lost that kid-at-heart spirit. Whether he’s giving it his all on the football field, exploring the outdoors with friends, or enjoying his favorite superheroes and a galaxy far, far away, he lives life with passion and authenticity.

Last night, I had the privilege of watching the Moon slowly disappear from the night sky—a truly breathtaking experience. There’s something humbling about witnessing a celestial event unfold in real time, and being able to capture those fleeting moments made it even more meaningful.

Unfortunately, the clouds had other plans and eventually rolled in, cutting the show short. Even so, I’m grateful for the phases I was able to photograph before nature closed the curtain.

These images were captured around 10:35 PM using my Canon R6 paired with an 800mm lens. Moments like these are a reminder that even when we don’t get to see the entire story, the parts we do witness can still leave us in awe.
