Every year, I get a wave of messages once summer hits and fall starts getting closer with everyone hoping to book a last minute session. And every year, I wish I had more room for all of them.

Our summers are short, and the best dates tend to go quicker than people expect.

If you’ve been thinking about photos at all this year, it’s worth planning ahead. Just something to keep in mind before those calendars start filling up.

This year I am booking families, maternity, new born, seniors, couples, and branding sessions. Have something else in mind that you’re not sure I offer? Ask anyway, I love a good creative challenge!

I’ve always been drawn to stories. Movies, tv shows, books, podcasts, I’ve always loved a good story. Watch a movie with me and I’ll be asking questions every two minutes. Not because I think you know the answer, but because I’m processing the story out loud, trying to figure out where it’s going and what it all means.

But I’ve never really been much of a storyteller myself… at least not until I put a camera in my hands.

I think that’s why I love photography so much. Photography is storytelling, just in a different language. No words or chapters, just moments. The way someone laughs, the way someone holds your hand, the way a room feels on a wedding day, the quiet moments no one else notices.

And one of the coolest parts of my job is that I don’t just get to tell one story. I get to watch stories continue. Engagement photos turn into wedding days, wedding days turn into maternity sessions, maternity sessions turn into newborn photos.

I’m not just taking photos. I’m capturing the chapters that make up your story.

Shy in front of the camera? I highly suggest having engagement photos done prior to your wedding day. Not to torture yourself, but to get more familiar with it. Ease the nerves a little, see how the flow of photos goes, get a little more comfortable with being in front of the camera before your wedding day. Plus, you’ll have more photos to look back on. Who wouldn’t want that? 😉
