Horse Barns for ✨Horses✨ Episode 3

The Salt Lick 🧂

Lots of people like to hang these at people height, where a horse has to stretch to reach them. Kind of discouraging the use.

Placing them on the floor in a stall can cause them to get lost under the shavings or worse, stepped on and bruise your horses sole. Which is why these should be hung about chest height or in a salt bucket on the floor: out of the way.

The gold standard would be to offer a white salt block, a mineral block, and added salt electrolytes to their daily grain. It’s impossible for feed companies to add enough salt to a grain to keep it palatable.

This is a $2 insurance policy on your horses health. And it adds something to the routine of horse day ☀️

Apparently he had a better idea of where to dry off 😎

Horse Barns for Horses Episode 2 ✌️

Feeding Hay 🌾

**always speak with your vet before making changes to your horses diet**

Horses should have access to forage 24/7.

If you don’t have an easy keeper like my horse River, who just needs a hay manger filled once a day… There are other tools, like hay nets and slow feeders, to stretch the right amount of hay the whole day.

Some horses can’t use these tools, so in this case, more frequent feedings, especially late night is important. Four times a day is usually great! Pasture turnout over night is even better!

Every horse is going to have different needs, so it can be trial and error of what is best. The ultimate goal is access to grass and hay 24/7.

Sometimes the best isn’t always achievable, but making any little changes you can will build up to a big difference for your horse!

We all are passionate about horses. And they deserve the best loving care. 🐴

Horseback riding is a personal challenge for me. To prove I can train my horse to accomplish things in the sport while we have a fun time.

Showing for me is a test, proving how good of a job I’ve done with my training.

Close your eyes and remember the first time you fell in love with horses. Let that drive your experience. Not the prize money, the idea of getting your investment money back, or the status of being an ‘accomplished rider’. Put the horse first. ❤️

We made it all the way to the ring, then my trainer said, no let’s try again Thursday 😭

I was down! But the radar showed solid rain for the next hour. Too many factors for both of us getting started again.

My second lesson back will have to wait 🤷‍♀️

Red Light Therapy Light Doesn’t Work on Muscles- NIR Light does! 🚨

That’s why your Amazon red light pad isn’t showing results. You have to make sure you get a good pad like .equine ‘s which has them both!

Disclaimer ** Fresh cut grass can be deadly to horses. This was cut 5’ away and fed immediately.

First Lesson Back After Vertigo 😵‍💫

I had a very traumatic vertigo episode one year ago and still have lingering symptoms and anxiety today. It’s been keeping me from training my very green horse.

I realized I needed a big push. Some encouragement and motivation. So I booked a walk lesson.

I ended up trotting more in that lesson than the past year. I am so glad we are getting back on track and will be jumping again one day soon. 🥰🐴

Horse Barns for…. Horses Ep. 1

The Feed Bucket 🍎

Things most people don’t even consider. A quick $15 change can provide so much more comfort, and even better digestion & respiratory health for your horse.

I know his doesn’t sound like a groundbreaking change, but follow along to see how these little changes will all add up to a more natural and comfortable life for your hoofed partner 🐴🐴

I use the 2 qt size for the ponies. It fits 1/2 scoop great. Anything larger is go with a 4 qt sized bucket, like I have for River. Links in bio: amzn.to/4eNCAes
