Still on the job!
At this moment 25 years ago, the members of FDNY “Ten House,” had no idea that their lives were about to be changed forever. They had no idea that the night’s dinner, would be the last “normal” one they ever had.
On September 11, 2001, their world was rocked, and not like most Americans, but like an “across the street from the World Trade Center” kind of way.
As one of the first responding units to the biggest job they’ve ever seen, members of Ladder 10 and Engine 10 witnessed, heard, worked, and lived the unthinkable.
25 years have gone by, and as new generations watch these firefighters get on the rigs and go, it’s important to remember that although the spirit of Americans can be shaken, it can never be broken, and that’s why those doors still open onto Liberty Street, and that’s why, without a second thought, firefighters jump onto the rig and either ride it home, or ride it into eternity. Either way, they’re going.
This video was taken by the just a couple of months ago, and shows the exact type of dedication that any regular person, would want coming to their aid.
