NORAD's Santa Tracker started on this day in 1955 with a simple typo.

"A local Sears store in Colorado Springs ran a dial Santa ad in 1955. However, the number was a misprint. Instead of listing the number for Sears' Santa hotline, it posted the number for the Continental Air Defense Command Center.

On Christmas Eve 1955, Colonel Harry Shoup began receiving calls while working at NORAD from kids asking to speak with Santa Claus.
Instead of telling the kids that they dialed the wrong number, Shoup said that he wasn't Santa Claus but he could track him on radar.

All night, Shoup and his team fielded calls, giving kids details about Santa's location as he and his reindeer flew through the sky to deliver gifts to children."

This is how a tradition was born. NORAD opened its lines for Santa Tracking every year since.

The story of the preacher who played pool with the devil.
The devil was in need of some souls in a small South Dakota town, he had all but the local church congregation. That mean old demon came before the pastor of the house of God with an offer. Meet me in town at the local hangout for a community game. The stakes you will not deny, for if you are victor, I will release the souls in this town proclaim the devil. But if I should be triumph, your flock shall be mine. Preacher agreed to the hellish terms. Unknowing to that slippery serpent that his fate was sealed. To this day the locals still joke about the devils questionable cry of how he was beat. The man of God’s immortal response.

“You were beat before you entered our town, we all may have sinned in that bar. All we do through Christ is God’s work. I use to be a frequent member of this establishment, but God showed me the light. Now he has proved he can use your bad past to beat all demons including Lucifer himself.”

Moral of the story: You may have a rugged past, but it can be a sword of light in a battle of darkness.

Storms can be a beautiful thing! As with the storms of our lives, if we just remember that rain is a renewal to wash away the dust.

Jesus climbed a mountain to pray, and God dwelled on a mountain. I believe it represents a hard and up hill road we have to travel to be closer to God, just remember when it seems rough, enjoy the view.
