Happy Birthday Jane. I have thought about how much this record means to me after 25 years, pretty much all day. It's kept me from the edge so many times. The record dropped a few months after I got out of high school. I didn't get it for a few months after the release. The first time I saw them play, changed something in me forever. That era of the world shaped so much of what we know today, and this was the soundtrack to so many days for me and plenty of other weirdos. Thanks to the band and everyone who worked on the record in any shape or form. Stoked to put my headphones in soon and listening to the chaos that has always brought me calm.

None of this will do it any justice. And I know no one sets out to change people's minds about life. Sometimes ya just make art that connects in ways that does. Regardless of the intention it almost always is dependent on one thing to me and that's just genuine self expression regardless of how raw it is. Anyway, I'm just ranting different words that have been said the same things for 25 years. Thankful I've been able to photograph them a handful of times and seen them quite a few more. Here's to hopefully doing some more shows eventually.

Milo went to college 44 years ago today.

Almost 2 years ago I got to photograph them for NOFX Nofx crew final tour at our weekender at Riot Fest

Here's a bunch of pics I haven't posted and a couple I probably have.

Thanks to Descendents descendentscrew Jeff Rhino Neumann for letting me get close to the fellas whenever it makes sense. I am always just a fly on their wall. It's the coolest thing in the world for me to say I photographed them like this, several times.

I asked my wife to marry me in San Pedro during their set. They're literally in our engagement photo. Milo congratulated me afterwards while heading back to the bus and I was on the phone with my Grandma. Only him and Timmy Chunks can verify that. No one else seems to believe me.

Growing up in my house Dolly was held as high on a pedestal as Joey Ramone, AC/DC, and Jesus. My mother's family is split between Monterrey, MX and Pikeville, TN. Helluva combination of folks who answered the post WW2 call to put America on wheels in Detroit and move up here.

Dolly was the catalyst to us grandkids pulling our grandparents more to the left, and that wasn't easy to do 30 years ago. But I figured something out and it was easy to just say "I dunno Grandma, I don't think Dolly would say some stuff like that about someone else." 🤷

I'm not a big fan of country music and the outlaw side has always been the stuff that tickles my need for something close to the Smoky Mountains where some of my DNA comes from. Ha, I just realized how on brand that is for me. Smoky mountains. Thankful I got to do the Tennessee trip as a kid a lot of us do from Michigan. Peacocks, Bears, and Dollywood. I'll always feel akin to those who trust in the Highwaymen enough to make art with them and champion them after almost all of them are gone. 🖤
