The Golden Goose

Or in this case, the Chinese Goose at golden hour 😊

We're all accustomed to seeing a ton of Canadian Geese around Wichita. And if you're around the Riverside\Downtown area, you'll often wait on them crossing the streets 🪿🪿🪿

But another common breed in Wichita is the Chinese Goose, which belong to the k**b goose family because of the prominent basal k**b on their bills. They are either white with a bright orange bill or brown with a dark brown bill. Males will usually have a more pronounced k**b than the females and like most geese, they mate for life.

Like most flock animals, they are very entertaining to just sit and watch how they interact with one another 😊

You can find some awesome things exploring beyond the beaten path. I followed the sounds of the babbling brook and found these icicles that had risen out of the stream and froze. Such a cool look!

I know the time change affects everyone differently, but it has done a number on me.

Sometimes you feel like you've lost your way in a fog and that's okay. The sun will rise and the fog will lift. Keep pushing. You might just discover something about yourself you hadn't realized before.

Don't be worried about wandering into the fog. Be excited because you don't know what you will discover or where you will end up.

Get outdoors, enjoy time with family & friends or whatever brings you joy. Take a moment to recenter and refocus on what matters to you. 😊

Another marvelous Kansas sunrise 🌇

• Fun Fact: Did you know the Delano Clocktower is actually titled "Window in Time"?

• It was crafted by local Kansas artist Kiv Yankey and dedicated in 2003.

• Inspired by the Turner Opera House of 1879, it was designed as a link to the past in Delano's history.

• Each of its four bas-relief, window-shaped art panels depict the development of Delano throughout its heyday in the 1800s.

The afternoon temperatures are nice, but the sunrises are still frosty and crisp ❄️

Most days start with a cozy, warm sunrise that brings on more and more clarity as the morning goes on. Every so often though, the temp and dew point come together and fog forms.

I feel like this picture describes the start of 2023 fairly well, for me at least. I'm on a tested and true stream headed in the direction I want to go. However, like most new years, there are a lot of rocks along the way and the end point is foggy and isn't quite in focus.

The right direction is rarely the easy one. You have to navigate a bunch of obstacles, recalibrate your attention to your goals and press on. Your future self deserves your perseverance and will thank you!

Remember what's important to you and why you're venturing down the stream you're on. Stay on it. It's worth it 💪😊
