That is not luck. I coach every pose out loud: where to put her hands, where to look, where to shift her weight. She relaxed instead of forcing a smile. It’s the number one question I hear from seniors before their session. And it makes total sense. You want to look polished for your photos, but you’ve seen the heavy, cakey, overdone looks. The ones where the person in the picture doesn’t even look like themselves. And these aren’t photos you delete. They’re your senior year, the ones you actually keep.

Here’s the truth: professional hair and makeup done right never erases you. It elevates you.

If you had to choose between a folder of digital links and a framed portrait you could actually hold, which one is the bigger risk?

I get it. Digital files feel like the safe bet for your senior’s photos. They are easy, instant, and familiar. But here is what rarely gets considered: files live on devices. Devices crash, get replaced, and die. Galleries expire, and photographers move on. That link in your inbox is not a promise. It is a maybe.

Parents tell me all the time that their senior won't last three hours. And you know what? They're usually right. That's actually the point.

Three hours isn't there to fill a calendar. It's the most we'll ever go, so I never have to rush your senior, and rushing is the fastest way to end up with stiff, uncomfortable photos. I'd never put your kid through that. This time exists so you and your senior never have to watch the clock, and never have to wonder if you're getting your money's worth.

Here's how it really goes. The first twenty minutes, most seniors are a little nervous, which is completely normal. Those first minutes aren't wasted. They're when your senior gets to loosen up and find their footing. By about the hour mark, they forget the camera is even there. That's when the photos worth printing start happening.

All that time is what makes room for three to five outfits, a few of my favorite local spots, professional hair and makeup, and posing I guide the whole way through. Your senior just gets to relax and be themselves.

And at the end, they don't just walk away with a gallery. They walk away having had a genuinely good day, and you get the kind of portraits you'll keep out for years, the ones that make you stop and think "that's my kid."

You’ve seen a senior’s gallery that missed the mark. She showed up excited, and the photos just did not look like her. Nine times out of ten, the outfit is why.

Two of the mistakes I see most:

Too short. Shorts and skirts that ride up limit how I can pose you. Longer, flowy pieces give you room to move and a lot more variety.

Hidden colors. Bright or patterned undergarments show right through light fabrics. N**e tones that match your skin keep the focus on your face.

Small fixes, but they are the difference between a gallery you love and one that feels off.

That is two of the five. The other three surprise people the most.

Maybe you are worried you are not photogenic, or that your photos will not measure up to the other seniors you see. That is not about luck, and it is not about being a model. It is about prep. That is exactly why every senior I work with plans a three-look wardrobe with me first and gets coached through every pose. Unlike a quick shoot where you are left to figure it out, you walk in knowing what to wear and exactly what to do.

Almost every mom tells me the same thing before her daughter's session. "She's a little shy, she might be nervous."

I get it, and I promise it's handled. Your daughter starts with hair and makeup, so that she has time to settle in and feel like her most confident self before the camera ever comes out. From there I guide her through every pose and every expression, so that she feels natural and sure of herself the whole way through. She just gets to relax and have fun with it, and you get to watch her light up.

The girl who's quiet in the car on the way over is usually the one who doesn't want it to end.

Parents of the Class of 2027, you might be looking at the calendar and wondering if you've already missed the window for fall senior photos.

Between football games, homecoming, and the weight of college applications, your senior's fall is already full, so it's easy for a session to feel like one more thing that won't fit. Every mom knows the mirror stress. Your daughter's been in the bathroom for an hour, nothing's cooperating, and she's already deflated before the day even starts.

So I take that whole part off your plate. Hair and makeup is included in every senior girl's session, and Analeigh does it the afternoon of. Your daughter just sits down and gets pampered. No YouTube tutorials the night before, no early salon run, no "does this look okay?" fifteen times.

And this is where it actually matters. If you booked a regular salon, they'd give her a beautiful going-out look, and it'd photograph too dark or too shiny and you'd never know why the pictures felt off.
