At 7:20 a.m., the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Eagle Harbor Apartments. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke emanating from the building and discovered a fire on a first-floor balcony. Despite aggressive firefighting efforts, the fire rapidly extended into the attic space and spread throughout the length of the apartment building. A large-scale response was initiated, mobilizing firefighters and emergency personnel from the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue, Suffolk Fire & Rescue, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, and Newport News Fire Department. Firefighters worked diligently to contain the rapidly advancing fire and protect surrounding structures. The fire was declared under control at approximately 8:45 a.m. Twelve apartment units were impacted by the fire, affecting more than 30 residents.
