I love seeing our local law enforcement in action! I recently spotted a York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office Charger down at the waterfront, and it’s such a stunning cruiser. It's always nice to appreciate our local law enforcement in the community!

Shortly before my vacation, fire crews in York County were alerted to a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, they discovered a barn-style shed with significant flames emanating from the roof. Engine 1 promptly initiated firefighting operations by deploying hoses to address the blaze. Subsequently, Engine 2 arrived at the scene, established a water supply, and provided necessary support to Engine 1. The commendable performance of all personnel involved contributed to the effective response to the incident.

Hey everyone! Good afternoon to all the wonderful folks following FirstDue! I wanted to take a moment to share what I've been up to lately. With school out and my three little ones wanting to explore everywhere, it's been a fun challenge to keep up with their energy! I’ve tucked away my camera gear for a bit to spend some quality time with family and friends. In the meantime, I'm excited to be on the lookout for some new equipment, especially with Truck Weekend in Smithfield coming up.

At approximately 1:37 p.m. today, Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. was dispatched to the 7700 block of Colonial Point Lane in Gloucester Point in response to a reported kitchen fire.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a fire that was significantly affecting an eight-unit apartment building. Firefighters commenced an aggressive interior attack on the fire while additional units worked to safeguard adjacent apartments from potential fire spread.

Due to the risk of further fire extension throughout the building and the extreme heat index, a considerable mutual aid response was requested to provide additional personnel and resources.

One occupant sustained burn injuries and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Four other occupants were evaluated for potential smoke inhalation; however, no injuries were reported among the firefighting personnel involved in the incident.

Newport News Fire Department crews working a vehicle accident that upgraded into a hazmat call due to fuel leaking from the fuel tanks on the semi, Strong work by NNFD.

At approximately 1:47 p.m., Hampton Public Safety Communications received a report of a condominium balcony fire in the 100 block of Watermark Way. Subsequent calls indicated visible flames on the balcony spreading across the residence. En route to the scene, Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue personnel observed significant fire activity from a distance. Upon arrival, they found a two-story condominium with visible smoke and flames, prompting the designation of a working incident. Given the residential structure type and weather forecast, a second alarm was activated to summon additional resources and personnel. Following thorough searches of the premises, crews initiated an aggressive fire attack, successfully knocking down the fire by approximately 1:54 p.m. and bringing it under control at around 2:33 p.m.

At 7:20 a.m., the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Eagle Harbor Apartments. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke emanating from the building and discovered a fire on a first-floor balcony. Despite aggressive firefighting efforts, the fire rapidly extended into the attic space and spread throughout the length of the apartment building. A large-scale response was initiated, mobilizing firefighters and emergency personnel from the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue, Suffolk Fire & Rescue, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, and Newport News Fire Department. Firefighters worked diligently to contain the rapidly advancing fire and protect surrounding structures. The fire was declared under control at approximately 8:45 a.m. Twelve apartment units were impacted by the fire, affecting more than 30 residents.
