Meet Max Mussomele with Overwatch Drones LLC

Max Mussomele is a licensed Part 107 Pilot (since 2023) and owner of Overwatch Drones LLC. Max moved to the New River Valley in 2017 to attend Virginia Tech where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fish & Wildlife Conservation. Shortly after graduation Max put roots down in the New River Valley and started his law enforcement career. In 2023 he joined his agency's drone team getting experience locating missing persons, fugitives, and completing other types of operations. From 2023 to 2025 Max accrued hundreds of hours of thermal flight time and gained experience flying agricultural drones in Part 137 operations for a local company. In 2025 he started Overwatch Drones and became the Virginia Field Application Specialist for Unmanned Vehicle Technologies, all while taking over the role of Team Leader for his agency's drone team. He cares deeply for the region in which he chose to put down roots and is proud to serve the community that welcomed him with open arms.

We have been staying really busy with the Unmanned Vehicle Technologies Field Specialist Work!

Recently we had the privilege of training City of Princeton, WV - Police Department on their new DJI Matrice 4T! This is their first piece of UAS equipment to kickstart their drone program.

This drone will be a game changer for achieving public safety goals in their community.

We had a great time and look forward to doing everything we can to support their public safety mission!

Hello everyone!

We have received several inquiries to complete lost pet searches. For this reason, I figured I would make this post to answer any questions about costs/service area.

We understand that having a lost pet can make for a stressful and emotional time. Due to this we have reduced our standard thermal search prices to:

$225 for Floyd County

$50 additional for adjacent counties, and $50 more for each county past that.

For example:
Floyd - $225
Montgomery - $275
Giles - $325

As much as we want everyone's business, we do only accept these jobs on a case-by-case basis. While we have a business to run, I have no desire to accept someone's money when the odds of finding their furry friend are very low.

We believe the drone is a great tool to seal the deal when odds are in the pet owners favor.
