I can't wait to photograph Destinee's Quinceañera! 👑

These save the date photos were so much fun, and getting to be a part of such an important milestone is always an honor.

August will be here before we know it, and I'm already excited and counting down the days to document all the memories from her big day.

One of Helena's favorite parts about working with me was that I captured genuine smiles of her. This was when I photographed her maternity photos last spring.

Since then, baby Oliver was born and is now ONE year old. Time flies!

This time her partner was able to be there, and it's always a blast when your significant other is just as excited about photos as everyone else. It makes the whole experience more fun and your children notice this more than you think.

Also, I want to mention that I now offer ✨client perks✨

For years, I've had a limit on how many photos clients could choose from (aside from weddings and branding sessions). I've been lucky enough to have so many returning clients over the years, and honestly when I have photographed so many milestones for one person/family you deserve something in return from me.

I'm incredibly indecisive when it comes to choosing images because I prioritize my editing process and am very intentional with every decision I make. Most regular sessions take me anywhere from 1–3 weeks to edit because of this.

I decided to reward my repeat clients.

When you book a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th session with me, you'll receive more photos each time. By the 4th session you book with me, (and beyond that) there is no limit on how many photos you get to choose from...as well as some other surprises. 😉

It's my little way of saying thank you for continuing to trust me with your memories year after year. ❤

Cory and Jerica welcomed Catherine last month, and I had the honor of photographing an in home newborn/family session for them.

Charlotte, who is 2, was so excited to be a big sister, and it was so sweet watching her interact with her new baby sister throughout the session.

They also have an older dog who made an appearance in some of the photos. I can’t say it enough...it's so important to have photos with our pets too. They’re part of the family, and these photos will become even more precious and meaningful as the years go by. ❤

One thing that I think is really important when it comes to editing newborn photos is communication with the parents. Some parents want their baby's skin edited, and some don't. Some want every little scratch, flaky patch, or newborn blemish softened, while others want those details left exactly as they are. I never assume.

🏳️‍🌈 June is Pride Month! 🏳️‍⚧️

Every year, I usually make a post during this time. Even though I haven't photographed a ton of q***r couples, I have photographed so many amazing q***r individuals over the years.

I never want people to think I'm putting anyone on a pedestal, only resharing one specific couple, or trying to advertise something. That's not what this is about or any past posts of mine.

I'm wanting to let people know I am a safe space. An ally.

Over the years, I've changed the wording in my contracts, questionnaires, and PDF guides. I've changed how I talk to couples hiring me for their wedding day, how I communicate with wedding parties and family members, really anyone I photograph.

I've worked to move away from the common "bride and groom" and "bridesmaids and groomsmen" wording. At the end of the day, those labels aren't always applicable, and I think it's important to recognize that.

I've also updated the wording on my website. Right on my landing page, I share that if we don't agree on inclusivity in any form, whether that's the color of someone's skin, q***r love, or another topic that some people consider "taboo", then maybe I am not the photographer for you.

I want every person who works with me to feel safe, included, respected, and supported.

If we don't agree on creating that kind of environment for others, then we probably aren't the right fit and that's okay with me.

Everyone deserves to be seen, celebrated, and treated with kindness.

Colorfully Uncanny 🎨

This is number 4 out of 5 magazines that I submitted some of my Halloween images into, and was probably the most time consuming submission I've ever experienced before.

Usually there are different steps involved when submitting work to magazines. You have to make sure your images are a certain resolution/size, provide a specific number of photos, and often they want certain crops, images, or an overall theme that matches the magazine.

That's all pretty common.

Additionally, sometimes magazines want the names of the outfits, the model, accessories, and all the details that went into creating the look. The funny thing is, this shoot was completely DIY. There was no designer involved. Just a cheap bodysuit and pantyhose from Amazon that we splattered makeup all over and ripped. 😅

Then they wanted me to write about the shoot. Another pretty common thing.

But then they wanted me to write some more.

And then even more!

There were probably 3 different revisions of the "about" section alone. The first version was very basic, but they kept wanting it to be more detailed, use a larger vocabulary, and have more specific wording. It's not normally how I speak or write, but eventually it was finally accepted.

It made me think about what I had originally written...

I don't remember everything word for word, but I talked about how beauty is, whether we like it or not, so prevalent in society. We're reminded of it daily through advertisements, social media, how we were raised, and even through our own individual styles based on our likes and dislikes.

Everyone has their own definition of what beauty means to them.

For me, my relationship with beauty has always felt pretty toxic.

When I first saw another photographer's work featuring pantyhose stretched over the model's face with makeup over top, I immediately felt this sense of discomfort. It sparked an interpretation of beauty that felt very personal to me. I've always felt like makeup for me in the past sometimes acted as a mask, and the pantyhose over the face felt like the perfect visual representation of that feeling.

It was uncomfortable.

And that's exactly why I wanted to create this look for our Halloween series.

April showed up to her session in tears...

Overwhelmed, second guessing everything. I'm sure we all can relate. Her hair wasn’t turning out how she hoped, she was worried about her makeup and how it would look on camera, and she brought a full on suitcase full of outfits, jewelry, and pieces because she didn’t know what would work.

All these feelings are more normal than people think.

She asked if she could bring a friend to her bo***ir session and the answer will always be yes for me.

Some photographers are really strict about that, but I think that’s pure bologna. 🍅 If having someone there helps you feel more comfortable and more you, then bring them. It doesn’t take away from the session, it actually makes it better in my opinion.

While she was worried about how the photos would turn out, I literally got down on the floor with her and talked through everything she was feeling. Because every emotion she had was valid, but none of it was going to affect the outcome of her photos AT ALL.

Her hair just needed to be brushed out a bit. I reminded her that the makeup looked amazing! And while she was embarrassed for having a suitcase having so many outfit options? I love that! It’s always better to have more than not enough.

And then… she was ready. And stepped into the experience.

You would never know looking at her photos that she was nervous. It looks like she’s done this a million times.

She absolutely killed it! 😍

And when she got her photos back, it came at a time she needed it most. Being able to see herself that way to remember who she is. That’s the part that matters most. And that moment stays with you long after your bo***ir session ends. ✨❤

There were so many meaningful moments woven throughout this wedding day. The bride’s Dad is no longer here, but his presence was felt during so many parts of the day.

From the first looks Madyson did with her brother, stepdad, her Dad’s friend, and her new father in law, to wearing her grandmother’s wedding veil and handkerchief, to the charm on her bouquet so she could still have her Dad by her side. Even incorporating her father’s boots and little personal details into the detail photos made everything feel that much more personal and memorable.

Her dress was absolutely gorgeous, the church was beautiful, the decorations and reception were stunning, and the speeches and first dances had everyone emotional. It was just such a touching day to witness and photograph.

I photographed the groom's senior pictures, both of his sisters’ senior pictures, and his oldest sister’s wedding. It's special being the photographer people continue coming back to through all of these different milestones in life.

Your trust never goes unnoticed, and it honestly means so much to me each time. ❤

Congratulations to Evan & Madyson

🧜‍♀️🌊'The Siren's Lure' 🐚🌊

Another magazine we were in but this time Cosplay!

Throwback to 1 of the 31 looks of my Halloween Series that I collaborated with the talented for her makeup skills.

For those who are new to my page this is the work I do that makes me even more inspired for when I'm photographing a family, wedding, or a highschool senior.

Everyone gets burnt out at some point. Things eventually start to feel the same, maybe stale after awhile, or like "something's missing".

I felt like that ONCE in my entire career and once I started creating again just for the sake of creating. For me and no one else. That's when I started to feel like me again. That's when I fueled that creative fire within me.

I want to look back at my work 40+ years from now and have no regrets or what ifs. I'm just going to go for it each time.
