Birds are starting to get busy in my backyard for the colder temps on the horizon. Lots of activity at the birdbath, and the nearby Crepe Myrtle. Sitting in the branches this morning was this pretty little finch. These little birds can fit in the palm of your hand!

Here's another shot of the beautiful western North Carolina mountains. Here you can see why they're called the Blue Ridge Mountains! This is an overlook at the Mt. Jefferson State Park, the town of Jefferson is in the background below. Now imaging 30" of rain on these mountain slopes, water racing down the hillsides to the town below. This is why flooding rainfall is these areas is so devastating.

Here is another shot from the mountains in North Carolina. This is called the Linn Cove Viaduct. We rode our motorcycles over the viaduct some many times - I've lost count! It's part of a 7-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway that was the final piece of the historic road. The bridge, and the final piece of the Parkway that wraps around the base of Grandfather Mountain was completed in 1987.

This morning I was going thru some photos I had backed-up off one of my first smartphones. I came across this shot I took on the side of the road one day. Some VERY talented artist took a pine tree stump, and carved this awesome bear! Some people see a tree stump - this person saw a bear waiting to come out of the wood!

A few years ago I was hired by an international car auction company to photograph a few cars that were relatively close to me in North Carolina. One of the cars happened to be one of my all-time-favorite cars. It's a 1965 Jaguar XKE - some people love this design - some hate it. I think it's absolutely GORGEOUS! Not sure what this sold for - but they can fetch close to $300,000 in pristine condition!!

There was heavy fog this morning in my backyard and it made a beautiful backdrop for this male cardinal. This guy has been eluding me for about a month… and I finally got him…it was worth the wait!!
