i’m just a soft, q***r artist trapped inside a capitalist society.

embrace your essence with during a unique “somatic portrait clinic” in wilmington, nc. during this 15-minute session, you will be welcomed into an indoor studio setting and guided through an intimate, embodied experience of pranayama and portraiture.

this offering is intentionally designed to create images that delicately knit your subtle body into the crevices of the gross body. five portraits will be delivered two weeks after clinic. only a few spots available on november 8.

my little capricorn brain screams: pick one!

pick one hobby, one craft, one idea, one project and repeat it over and over and over. it wasn’t til i shared this with a friend that i was called out. “no. you don’t have to pick just one.” she quieted my soul with sternness.

i didn’t understand how my curiosity, my short attention span, my dissociation, my fire, my wounds, my hyper-focus, my empathy belonged in this world. i didn’t know how to hold the yearning and fire burning in my soul. so i threw water on it to contort myself to meet the demands of deadlines and productivity.

i became a thief trying to silence my own voice. i copied everyone around me to fit in to spaces that weren’t made for me. as i soften into all the ways i show up in the world, i’m learning to trust the fire in my soul more than i lean on the voices for validation.

my fire doesn’t have to make sense to the world. i’m just not willing to tame her so i can be like everyone else. i’m here to drift and linger and blur the boundaries the world has given me.

these deep and dark storm-chaser photos of dear jordan + jordan dried the soggy kindling. i hope you find courage to dance on the edge of your comfort. i don’t know what’s next, but i trust the fire inside to burn away anything that is not for me.

nothing really prepares you for the polarity of life—to maintain abundance in lack, to hold joy for others with a deep sense of desire for yourself, to pursue a dream and manage a full-time job.

most days, sleep wins and i collapse in bed. i hold my words closely, afraid someone may prematurely assume only one side of dichotomy can be true.

abundance is not the absence of lack, rather it is the daily practice of non-attachment to material things. cultivating joy for another human is not something you do when your deepest desires are met, rather authentic joy is best expressed in the face of every unmet need of our humanity. having an 8-5 job isn’t a dead-end for creatives, rather it is an opportunity to dance with the finite possibility of each breath.

keep showing up when you feel like you don’t belong. keep resting when you feel like you’re not good enough. keep chasing dreams that ignite your heart when time is against you. keep choosing joy when your desires are long from being fulfilled. keep practicing abundance in the face of lack. keep resolving to linger when our culture values rushing.

A new year brings a lot of hesitation in the business world. There is an anticipation for the things to come, the projects to come, the stories to tell. It creates both terror and beauty—in the same moment. How do we hold terror and beauty together in our bodies?

It’s like standing on the peak of a mountain. You see all of the beauty around you and yet, there is nothing keeping you from falling off that mountain ledge. You’re grounded in the present AND you want to jump into the future with the clarity of the past. Terror and beauty.
