Dawning of the Moon

Driving to Wrightsville Beach I happened to look up in the eastern sky, I noticed that both the moon and Venus were still out in the pre-dawn sky. I crossed my fingers that I would be able to get to Crystal Pier before the sky lightened up too much, and they faded away. I was able to capture this image just before Venus disappeared. You have to look really close to find it. It's just to the left of the moon. Did you find it?

Have you ever noticed that walking to the beach along a public access point is a lot like Christmas morning? You spend the morning getting ready, packing a snack and your towel, and putting sunscreen on. Then the drive to your favorite spot. Finding parking. Then you grab all your stuff and start walking. You crest the little hill of the dune. And.....aaaahhhhhhh!! The sight of the blue water. The smell of the salt air. The sound of the waves. It's all built up to this moment. The anticipation only enhances the experience.
