These are the moments I love most on a wedding day. Not perfectly posed. Not forced. Just the little looks, forehead kisses, hand squeezes, and the we actually just got married kind of happiness. 🤍

I always tell my couples that an engagement session is one of the best ways to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day. It gives us time to learn what poses and prompts feel natural, figure out what makes you laugh and get to know each other without the pressure of a wedding timeline.

But honestly, these two were complete naturals from the very beginning! Their Kentucky engagement session felt so easy and relaxed, so we spent less time practicing and more time laughing, talking and getting excited about their wedding day. By the end of the session, it felt like we had known each other much longer than a couple of hours.

Engagement photos are not only a beautiful way to celebrate this season, but they also make the wedding-day experience feel so much more comfortable. I already know photographing these two again is going to be such a good time!

You don’t need a special occasion to take family photos. Your kids will never be as little as they are right now, and every age is worth remembering. 🤍

There may be “ideal” times for newborn or milestone sessions, but the truth is, there is no wrong time to document your family. The messy stages, the growing stages, the tiny details and the personalities you see every day will all change before you know it.

Take the photos. Get in the frame. One day, these images will mean more to you and your children than you ever imagined.

Your engagement session can be anything you want it to be, but it becomes even more meaningful when we plan it around a place, activity or experience that feels like you as a couple.

Was your first date at the drive-in? Let’s go back there. Do you have a piece of land where you plan to build your first home? Let’s document this season there before the next chapter begins. Love cooking together? I’ll come to your home and photograph the two of you making homemade pasta, laughing and probably making a little bit of a mess.

A little life update from behind the camera. ❤️

Wedding season looks a little different for me this week. I had my gallbladder removed, so I’m taking it easy while I recover.

Jason has been taking care of me, keeping up with Carter, chasing after Lincoln, and reminding me not to lift anything heavier than I’m supposed to. Not being able to pick up Lincoln has definitely been the hardest part.

I’m so thankful for him and for everything he’s doing so I can heal. I’ll be back behind the camera before long, but for now I’m soaking up the extra rest.
