A year ago, they said private vows to just each other, beneath a tree, before their ceremony with friends and family. Not even I was close enough to be privy to what was exchanged and I felt a deep sigh go through my body. In a world where everything seems to be shared with everyone, it was a reminder that there are still those sacred moments worth protecting. Not everything needs to be photographed close up, not everything needs to be known by everyone else. What a beautiful moment, known only to them. Happy Anniversary you two.

Mamas on Film, forever ❤️ ✨. It has been 3 years since I started my Mother's on Film Project, and every mother I have had a chance to photograph has been a gift. Watching you with your children, and providing you with images of your time with them is work I do not take lightly. Who will take that photo of you with your children? I am sure you have a collection, like mine, of hoards of photos of your children on your phone that you treasure, but where are the photos of you with them, that they will someday treasure?
My daughter recently asked for a photo of me with her, to put in a locket as a keepsake, and I realized even more how much they treasure those photos even now. It is special to us, but it is immeasurably more special to them, and will continue to carry on that meaning when they are grown and away. A little peek at that keepsake photo of mama and her together, tucked into her little locket. That carries way more meaning than you ever expect a simple photo could.

Always reaching for beauty.
As a mother, I know that it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day tasks we need to accomplish. In doing so, we can easily miss so much beauty right at our fingertips, most especially that which lies in our children and our relationships with them.

These are longer sessions that take place over the course of a morning, afternoon, or evening and allow for a more documentary approach, truly your life as art.
