There’s a moment on every elopement day where I put the camera down for a second and just take it in.
This was one of those days. A whole family hiking through the Smoky Mountains together — nobody dressed for it, everybody doing it anyway — to stand at a waterfall and watch two people get married.
I don’t take it lightly that I get to be there for it.

They ended their wedding day dancing to a live band at Ole Smoky Moonshine. In wedding clothes. Surrounded by strangers who had no idea they’d just hiked a mile to a waterfall and said their vows a few hours earlier.

That’s the thing about a full elopement day — it doesn’t have to look like anything in particular. It just has to feel like you.

This one started with her mom buttoning her dress at the cabin, a first look on the deck, a hike through the Smokies with their whole family, vows at Cataract Falls, mini golf, the Skylift, the SkyBridge — and it ended with a first dance nobody planned.
