My next miniature to create was of course an artist easel. I followed a YouTube video and had to measure all the wood out and glue it together, followed by a coating of danish oil.

Amazing what you can do with coffee stirrers and lollipop type sticks.

Will go perfectly in my miniature Victorian study / studio I’m creating for myself. Will also have to do another for my NROS art in September, but more to come on that another time.

My first miniature in January was a water jug.
I had to measure each element of my actual jug, change size to 1:12 scale (12 inch actual means 1 inch miniature). Make a drawing and create the cylinder shapes. Gluing each piece carefully. Then painting / varnish. It went from simply being piece of card to a hard decorated jug. Was quite pleased with my 1st miniature 😃

It’s been a journey over the last couple of months, an aspiring miniaturist here we come. Over Christmas I completed an older miniature greenhouse and a tea room kit that I had got as a present. I love peering into the little rooms, imagination overload. So I thought to myself, enough is enough and rather than put more kits together that are made of plastic and definitely not sustainable, I’m going to learn how to make everything myself. Follow me on my journey, I have so much to show you. Watch this space!

Last weekend, I created not 1, but 2 pieces of art with my favourite meadow style. With a hint of warming yellow ocre, pearlised pink, gold and copper to warm our autumn soul.

Finished my first play with charcoal on wood. This is called ‘Bulrushes’.

After getting wet on Wednesday at Lamport Hall, having fun with pastels, I’ve just had the chance to work on it some more to get some detail in. Think it sums up the day with moody skies and an array of greens.

It was an interesting morning in the rain. Luckily I was under a tree, but had to change tree and view. It was ok for me, but the rain strayed on my paper, not so good for pastels. Didn’t want to have to go to the marquee (no view), so embraced the weather and used the rain to create interesting marks with the pastels. Was great fun. So made a good start and can add more details at some stage. Typically sun and blue sky came when I had to stop, but then rain soon came back later. Had lovely chats with Thanks for a great morning.
