The Ward Engagement | Garvan Woodland Gardens

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time means having a camera in your hands!

I was leaving Garvan Woodland Gardens when a gentleman approached me and asked if I was a professional photographer. Turns out, he was the groom's best friend, and his buddy was about to propose!

He asked if I would photograph the surprise, and just like that, I found myself documenting one of the sweetest moments between two people I'd never met.

The best part? Foxx and Karlie returned to Garvan in December to exchange their vows.

Pure cuteness, yes. But to me, she is so much more.

This is Papaya, my little shadow. When I leave, she waits for me. When I come home, she runs to greet me as if I’ve been gone for years. She follows me from room to room and firmly believes that my lap, or the spot directly beside me, belongs to her.

She is loyal, funny, demanding, and completely woven into the rhythm of my everyday life. Even these sleepy little expressions are pieces of her I never want to forget.

Papaya is my heart dog. The one who doesn’t simply live in my home, but holds a permanent place in my heart.

Women are so often the ones making everyone else feel seen.

We remember the details, celebrate the milestones, and care for the people around us. Somewhere along the way, we can begin to disappear behind all the roles we carry.
