"KAIN, TULOG, ART, REPEAT"
Installation 2025
E3 E4 Exhibit
Connected to my previous installation works which revolved around the concept of the home, this work is the confusing fusion of the space where we eat, sleep, and make our art. Especially for those who experienced most of their college years during the pandemic through Zoom calls and google classrooms, this space is our studio, our bedroom, our dorm, our dining area. This is where our paint brushes are dipped in coffee, and we accidentally drink our paint water instead. This is where we have breakfast in bed, but not the fancy way. In our small dorms now, nothing much has changed, paying around 5k for a space where we can barely fit our canvas and sculptures, so they sleep in our bed with us, along with the printed class curriculum and our overheating gadgets.
I didn't get to experience learning in the classrooms of E3 and E4, but we tambay with friends. I see the space at the back of the class has two floor beds where students sit or nap when there's no class. Their classroom has become their home, the opposite of what I experienced diring the pandemic, where my home was my classroom. Magulo, halo-halo, makalat, but this is where it all begins.
