Sunset at anchor on the east side of the Chesapeake Bay while waiting for a better weather window. BIL doesn't see the creature waiting to pounce on him around the corner.

I am easily hypnotized by watching fluid dynamics. Check out a slowmo of Lucky sculpting her way through the bay.

Thanks 🙏to QE👸 and her friend for carting my BIL and me to the Eastern shore 🦀 for the return home. Lucky is saying goodbye for now from the Port of Salisbury Marina and we are greatful for them providing a comfy waterbed 🌊 for the last few months. Lucky served as a covid-condo 😷 for E and I as well as a great place to get some maintenance 🛠done with local craftsman. Santa 🎅 brought Lucky a new winter coat/summer cover up to protect her brightwork (lacquered teak for land-based folks). Seems a side benefit is another camping spot for sleeping bags! Shout out to Taylor's Custom Canvas for the craftmanship and design ideas!

We have quite a backlog of stories and pictures to post, so these will be a little out of order. We are back in Naptown (aka Annapolis). On a picture-perfect 🖼 evening plenty of boat watching as the sailboats ⛵ came in from their races. One sailboat coming in had motor trouble and was coming in close enough for me to have the urge to put my own fenders out 😮. The sailboat captain finally succumed to calling for the assistance of Towboat US. For many motorboaters, this is a welcome assist. But for a sailboater, it stings just a little more. It would likely be less traumatic if it weren't a motorboat. I just don't see towboat using other sailboats to rescue anyone. I clapped for the Towboat driver on his way back past our boat, he said "honestly, it wasn't my best work". 🤪

Can you see at night? - Why yes, we are superhuman. I've been asked how you can boat at night and not hit things ;) It's not like a road with street lights, but there are markers everywhere and we have charts that show where there "should" be enough water for us to fit. But that doesn't give you real time situations of things like logs, crab pots and floating tiki bars. There are a few types of night vision and most are familiar with thermal imaging technology like Flir, which shows heat signatures, but it's not very natural to see when you are underway. We use a tech called color infrared night vision that works great to see anything in the water as your moving along. You still have to be very careful, things can be under the surface, and you need to go SLOW...

Underway up the bay...🚤 evening is a time to reflect and a lovely time to travel. Except for the random 🦀crab pot (underwater cage attached to a float) in the deep channel that can foul (gum-up) your prop, twighlight is a great time as it is cooler and with less boat traffic (crossing 🌊wakes).
