What has inspired you lately?

Last week, I had the honor of photographing a special gathering at The Whitney Museum —where Broadway legends, directors, and artists came together for a private tour of Amy Sherald’s American Sublime. Guests walked through the gallery of Sherald’s forty-two paintings and were asked to imagine what was possible. Here are some highlights from the Vanity Fair article and additional coverage. Nights like these remind me why I’m in New York and what might just spark the next great work.

As for the above questioned. What inspired me from the night… at the end of the event, an impromptu group photo request landed me on-top of a chair directly as many eyes as possible to look into the camera. Not an easy lighting task but I think everyone involved would agree that we had fun doing it!

energy and message was clear from the start of the night at with a spotlight on American Fiction and a “F-*-C-K OFF” attitude that kept the audience past the 10:30 pm show curfew.

Who cares? This is America.

Let’s just put it this way. If you see someone from the audience being dragged from GA by security and then wrestled down by 5 cops during the second song, you can pretty much anticipate where the night might be heading.

Show theatrics reminded us that sometimes you gotta put a in a body bag when the bombs don’t want to flush even if they’re dropped on your head. The crowd was alive and this was no nighttime sleep walk through a cemetery. Picture punk-rock Thriller.

The Headliner Energy and Festival Closer was exactly what every festgoer could have hoped for to shut down the Twin Cities.

But, had one final question before setting off the fireworks besides, “Do you wanna be my girlfriend, do you wanna be my boyfriend?”

Minnesota… America, where do we wanna go from here? Do you wanna stay a believer during all this make-believe?

I hope you had the time of your life.

About twelve years ago, I visited Paris in December and snapped this photo of a man on a bench overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It was quick—I can’t even remember the camera I used—but I remember the light. The way it touched his face, the zig-zag of benches leading to him, and the tower framed by bare winter trees. Recently, I revisited the image, adjusting grain, highlights, and shadows to reveal more detail. But honestly, I still prefer the original. It's starker, moodier—closer to what I saw: just enough light to separate him from the gloom. What do you think? Which version speaks to you?

What a moment — meeting and photographing the legendary Harry Benson at the Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum left me feeling incredibly inspired. He was so approachable and friendly. Earlier in the evening, as I was quietly taking a candid of him in front of his iconic Beatles Pillow Fight, Paris photograph, he noticed me and playfully waved his hand at the camera as if to brush me off. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he wasn’t upset — he was just having fun.
Later that night, while he was sitting and waiting for the elevator, we spoke. He told me those hand gestures are what he calls “Drama” — a technique he uses with his subjects to create the feeling that something is happening. He then waved his hands at me again, and I snapped several images. The first is my favorite: I kneeled down to capture it while he was on the bench, and the rest of the series shows the earlier sequence from the night inside the gallery.
What a special, unforgettable lesson to receive from a master who documented The Beatles’ first trip to the U.S. in February 1964. I later found this quote from him online:�“Some assignments I feel I could go back and improve on, but not The Beatles — I don’t think I could have bettered it.”�And about Beatles’ Pillow Fight in particular:�“With most of my pictures I think I could have done better, but this was the perfect moment. It won’t happen again. I got it.” Benson recalls processing the negatives in the bathroom of the George V and putting the negatives in his suitcase, never realizing their historic and cultural importance.

Who wants to be at the beach this July 4th? This shot still stands as one of my all-time favorites. Taken in January 2009 on the island of Fernando de Noronha—miles away from a freezing New York winter. I captured it with a basic Sony point-and-shoot (DSC W55, f/5.6, 1/160, ISO 100). No planning, just good timing. A surfer at sunset, and a simple ask: “Excuse me, do you mind if I take your picture?”

May 21, 2023. The day lightning struck for me and and Roc Father was born. That fateful day I found myself capturing the biggest concert of my life at the historic Circus Maximus venue in Rome, Italy. My life-long friend would also be performing on stage. Flashback 25 years and you’d find me and Jake sitting next to each other in a high school sociology class. It sparked a connection that has lasted to this very day. Together, we've formed a creative partnership to launch Roc Father, a premium apparel made with 100% American-grown , handcrafted in Woodstock, NY and founded in friendship. Our goal is to build a brand with intention, to inspire and celebrate the creative process.

A beautiful Midtown penthouse and floor-to-ceiling windows created perfect light for this portrait of . Shot mostly on the Nikon 105mm—my go-to for portraits.

I was hired to document this private event where Calicho painted live as guests mingled. Born in Bogotá and based in NYC, his work blends stripes, wildlife, doodles, and portals—each rooted in culture, symbolism, and the city that fuels him.

Great energy, inspiring process, and light that did all the work. I just pushed a button...

What an amazing night to celebrate the opening of the Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room at The Brooklyn Museum and announce a six-year collaboration with the Rubin Museum. Since its debut in 2013, this immersive installation has been one of the Rubin Museum’s most beloved exhibits. Now, visitors in Brooklyn can experience more than 100 sacred objects—from scroll paintings and sculptures to ritual tools—arranged as they would be in a traditional Tibetan household shrine.
