This year for Christmas I got some supplies I've wanted for quite awhile. Among them were my first glass dip pen and a bottle of Apache Sunset (which I've only ever had a few samples of). Of course I had to test them out! I've been learning German, so I used the text of a particularly beloved song. The writing came out almost as beautifully as the song itself. Not bad for my first attempt with the glass pen!

Nearly 10 months ago, I finally experimented with ink chromatography after seeing art by Fountain Pen Inks & Bleach . I didn't post it at the time, but a few months later I also experimented with bleaching over ink, another technique I first saw in their art. This was my first test page. This gorgeous pen was an early Christmas gift from my aunt and uncle this past Christmas. It's the Cross Wanderlust Malta with a medium nib; the pattern on the barrel is meant to look like geologic formations. The first order of business was to learn a typewriter print, as you can see!

Pen: Cross Wanderlust Malta, medium nib
Ink: Diamine Pumpkin
Paper: Rhodia dot pad

The other bits of writing visible are Diamine Soft Mint in Noodler's Ahab flex and Monteverde Midnight Black in a TWSBI ECO-T 1.1 stub nib.

I've been staying with some relatives for the month of December, and this is my temporary workspace while I'm here. Previously it was mostly used as a place to stack mail. Now it's a full-blown lettering workstation!

All of my posts thus far have been about lettering/calligraphy, but I enjoy photography too, and I'm hoping to get some of my favorite shots up in the next few days. Keep an eye out! My goal is to be set up to sell prints soon.
