Left: sitting like I’ve just been told off by the headteacher.

Right: sitting like I own the place.

The difference? Just a small posing tip.

• Sit on the edge of the sofa
• Sit up tall
• Bend your limbs (straight limbs = awkward energy)

This simple sitting pose creates better angles and instantly makes your Instagram photos look more confident.

STOP POSING YOUR ARMS LIKE THIS ☕📸

If your café photos look awkward, it’s usually the arms.

Left: arms just sort of… there.
Right: arms actually posing.

When your arms are straight or squashed against your body, photos can look stiff and uncomfortable. Like you’ve been forcibly placed at the table and told not to move like a naughty toddler.

Try this café posing tip instead:

• Rest one arm on the table
• Bend your arms to create shape
• Lightly touch your hair or face with the other hand
• Angle your shoulders slightly towards the camera

Small changes to how you pose your arms can completely transform your Instagram photos.

A simple posing tip that helps your photos look more natural and confident!

Save this for the next time you need poses in a cafe or a new photo post idea.

Do you ever avoid being in photos… even though you know you need new ones for your business?

So many of my friends swerve being in photos because they want to wait until they’ve lost weight, feel more confident, or feel more “ready”.

But we all know how important it is to create new content and show up in our businesses.

So how do we get past that feeling of dread?

I’m definitely not immune. Believe it or not, I often feel exactly the same way!

I nearly didn’t go to this delightful tulip festival because my brain woke up and immediately started its daily performance review.

“You’ve got a double chin.”“You look huge.”“You’re too old for photos.”

Very supportive. Love the team spirit. 😭

But knowing the festival wouldn’t be on for long, I pushed through and I went anyway.

I took the selfies.

And now I love the photos I almost didn’t take - AND I had a lovely day with my kids to boot.

I filmed the experience in the hope that it might encourage you too.

Because sometimes if you push past the discomfort and take the photos anyway… it really is worth it and it might not even be as bad as you expect!

Please tell me I’m not the only one whose brain does this before being in a picture 😅

Know why you never like photos of yourself sitting down?

There’s a good chance you’re sitting like the photo on the left.

You know the one.
Slightly slouched.
Limbs everywhere.
Looking like you’ve been asked to stay behind after class.

The difference here isn’t my weight.
It isn’t lighting.
It’s not even my outfit.

It’s the way I’m posing.

Try this sitting pose for photos instead:

• Sit towards the edge of the chair
• Sit up tall
• Cross your legs
• Bend your limbs to create shape

Straight limbs make photos look stiff.

Angles create shape and confidence.

HOW TO POSE ON A BENCH SO YOUR PHOTOS INSTANTLY LOOK BETTER 📸

If you want posing tips for better Instagram photos, try this bench pose for your next picture!

(Also yes… this was totally filmed while sharing a bench with strangers and 100s of tourists all around me. Nothing builds confidence like doing a photoshoot with an audience 😅.)

✅ STEP ONE: Turn around on the bench so your body faces away from the camera.

✅ STEP TWO: Rest your arms on the back of the bench.

✅ STEP THREE: Look over your shoulder towards the camera.

A simple posing tip that helps your photos look more natural and confident.

Save this for your next photo post idea and send it to a friend who never knows how to pose for pictures.

STOP SITTING LIKE THIS IN PHOTOS 🛋️📸

If you don’t love photos of yourself sitting down… this might be why.

Most women sit exactly like the photo on the left.

Back against the sofa.
Both legs straight forward.
Hands politely in your lap.

Perfectly normal in real life.
But unfortunately not the most flattering photo pose.

Photos flatten your body into a 2D image.

When everything faces directly toward the camera, your body can look stiff and square.

So if you’re wondering how to pose for pictures when sitting on a sofa, try this instead:

• Sit slightly sideways on the sofa• Shift your weight onto the hip furthest from the camera• Rest one arm on the armrest or back of the sofa• Bend or cross your front leg slightly

These small changes create shape in your body and instantly make your photo poses look more natural, hurray!

It’s one of my favourite posing tips for women who need better personal brand photos but never know how to pose for pictures.

Save this for the next time you need pose ideas or sitting poses for photos!

Are you posing for photos like the one on the left…
…and wondering why your content isn’t growing?

Respectfully.

It’s not the algorithm. It’s the pose.

Stop sitting like you’re waiting for a dentist appointment.

Move the camera
Turn your body.
Lean on the bench.

Suddenly you’re not “someone’s kooky aunt on Facebook.”

You’re the CEO of the bench baby and we are loving this energy for you!

Save this for your next content day and remember to love yourself(ie)! 💥 🎤

If your brand photos look like a school picture from 2007… we need to intervene.

You know the ones.

Standing stiff.
Arms glued to your sides.
Smiling like someone just said “say cheese” against your will.

You’re a business owner. Not a cardboard cut-out.

So here are 4 poses that instantly make your brand photos look natural, confident and actually professional.

Steal these posing tips for your next shoot and thank me later.

Save this so you don’t default to the awkward standing-like-a-lamppost pose again.

Business owners on Instagram be like:

“I can’t post yet… I need a brand photoshoot.”

Meanwhile you’re in your living room with a tripodtaking photos that look like a £1000 shoot.

The real cheat code isn’t a photographer.

It’s knowing how to use your phone properly.

That’s what I teach inside Slay Your Selfies.

Link in bio if you want the secrets.

Meanwhile your competitors are still saving for their next photoshoot.

Welcome to 👌

Be honest.

The second you sit down for a photo, do you instantly look 47% softer?

Spine curves.Shoulders drop.Everything relaxes a bit too enthusiastically.

And suddenly it’s less
 “Shall we sign the contract?”
 More
 “Shall we order takeaway?”

The sofa is innocent.

It’s the pose.

When you understand how to sit with intention for brand photos, everything shifts.

You look structured.Confident.Professional.Still human.
Just… less blancmange energy.

Most women think they’re “bad at photos” when really they’ve just never been taught how to position themselves properly.

And that’s exactly what I’m fixing.

I’m putting together a practical work-from-home posing workshop where I’ll teach you:

• How to sit for flattering, professional photos• How to stop disappearing into your furniture• The small positioning tweaks that change everything• How to create strong personal brand content at home
