There are photographs that show what a person looks like.

Then there are portraits that remind us who they were.

Chloe's 21st birthday was a beautiful celebration filled with family, friendship, laughter, and moments that deserved to be remembered. Before we headed to the venue, we made a quick stop at my studio for a portrait session. We were pressed for time, but from the very first frame I knew it was going to be special. Chloe was completely at ease in front of the camera, and those portraits became some of my favourites from the entire day.

The celebration that followed was filled with proud parents, heartfelt speeches, genuine laughter, and the kind of moments that remind us what really matters in life.

This is why I am so passionate about portraiture.

Portraits are not created only for today. They are created for the years ahead. They preserve milestones, relationships, and memories that become more valuable with time. Long after the decorations are gone and the music has faded, these photographs will remain.

One day, future generations will look back on these images and see more than a birthday celebration. They will see Chloe at twenty-one. They will see the people who loved her, celebrated her, and stood beside her during this important chapter of her life.

Chloe, thank you for trusting me with such a special milestone. It was a privilege to tell a small part of your story, and I hope these photographs bring you and your family joy for many generations to come.

Emily’s baptism was filled with gentle moments family gathered close, soft prayers, proud smiles, and a little girl surrounded by love from every side.

There’s a small patch of yard at my in-laws’ home where time has quietly passed us by.

On certain Sundays after church, without planning it, we would step outside and I’d lift my camera. No setup. No pressure. Just family… and a moment that felt ordinary at the time.

These two photographs were taken there. Years apart.

The first time I photographed Mia Carla in that yard, she was still so small hands full, eyes soft, the world not asking much of her yet. And without thinking, I turned to black and white. I’ve done it every time since. Not because I planned it… but because something about her in those moments never felt like it belonged to colour.

Yesterday, she sat there again. Same yard. Same quiet light.

But not the same little girl.

And it hit me… these moments don’t come back. You don’t get to photograph the same version of someone twice. What felt like a simple Sunday tradition… was actually time moving right past me, one frame at a time.

One day, another family will stand in that yard. Another generation will fill that space with their own laughter. And these photographs… will be what remains.

Not just of Mia.

But of who she was… in a place that held her, for a little while.

And maybe that’s why I always return to black and white with her.

Because some things aren’t meant to feel new.

They’re meant to feel remembered.

And yesterday, behind the camera, I didn’t just see a portrait.

I saw the distance between two moments that will never meet again.

And I felt it.

Deeply.

LADMA 2026, and the room never stood still.

One moment, a voice carries the weight of the room…
the next, laughter breaks it open.
Music pulls people out of their seats, and just like that strangers become part of the same rhythm.

I was one of four photographers there… this is how I saw the night..
Because these aren’t just highlights… these are the moments in between the smiles, the movement, the feeling you can’t stage.

A singer lost in her note.
A crowd leaning in.
A dance that needed no invitation.

This is what it looked like.
This is what it felt like.
