Traces of motion, resting in stillness.

Fine strands of twigs scatter across a wet asphalt lineโ€”natureโ€™s gestures meeting urban order. A quiet balance between rhythm and restraint, found where the street meets the wind.

Celestial bodies close to home.

Circular marks on wet pavement that is residue of removed garbage cans, glowing with traces of yellow and red. They look like brushstrokes left behind by chance. Rain on concrete working together to create art, with a ethereal suggestion of the heavens.

Unexpected texture and color right under your feet

This set is an abstract rendering of the painting of the red bus lanes on the 14th Street Corridor in NYC (my local bus), and the marks are made by lots of bicycle tracks criss-crossing through the still-wet red paint. This pairing is unique in the inclusion of purple tones as well as the red rendered more orange. It is a highly textured piece and expresses the movement of the bicycles and includes drips of paint.

A cubist dreamscape road trip

Another image from me roaming the back roads of the Midwest, this time in Indiana (Bainbridge to be exact). This was an arbitrary feed supply store shot against a vibrant blue sky. The overlapping of the imagery of the geometric buildings is said to look very cubistic and creates a dreamlike atmosphere. The skyline is filled with angular rooftops and whimsical grain elevators, interconnected with unusual lines and curves. The color palette is dominated by shades of blue, white, and earth tones, enhancing the fantastical and vivid quality of the scene. I particularly like the round lens flare at the left end of the film.

Look down, look closer โ€” beauty is everywhere

This pairing focuses on the colors of red and blue, the first being looking down into a glass of unknown reddish liquid found on the street on a textured base, the second a blue garbage can with red construction gloves left along the edge and showing a bit of red and yellow striped rope through the handles. The light in the glass glistens and the diagonal line of the straw draws the eye inwards. The gloves on the garbage can have a nice gesture, they almost seem alive. The shape of the shadow has interest as well. This is a diptych that required a lot of work to get the colors to more closely match.

Abstract art, hidden in everyday streets

These two blobs of white paint I also view as conversing. The right-hand image is of a particularly gestural splatter and the other seems some animal moving towards the smaller glob. This diptych is purely monochromatic, just black and white.
