The power and the glory of an LMS Princess Royal in full voice, as 6201 'Princess Elizabeth' is seen in charge of a 'Cathedrals Express' to Shrewsbury, over the Welsh Marches route. Firstly, captured thundering up the lower slopes of Llanvihangel Bank, past Llantilio Pertholey. Later, on the return run, we see Lizzie making up for lost time, flying past the signal box and remaining semaphores at Moreton-on-Lugg.

'An Ivatt Remembered: 41312 on the Severn Valley Railway'

For their autumn steam gala, this year, the Severn Valley Railway will be playing host to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway's Ivatt 2MT Tank No.41313. With that in mind, I thought it would be nice to take a look back at some previous of appearances of a 'Mickey Mouse' tank - so nicknamed for their similar silhouette to the aforementioned rodent when affixed with route indicator discs to either side of their smokebox - to the Valley, in the form of the Mid Hants Railway's No.41312, who had visited the SVR for their 2017 spring gala and 2023 autumn gala. Both events had the loco suitably paired up with SVR based Ivatt 4MT No.43106, now sadly withdrawn after a lengthy stint in service. The storming run up Eardington Bank, in the pouring rain, during the 2023 gala, is one of my all time favourites.

Enjoy :)

LNER A4 Pacific No.60009 'Union of South Africa', seen approaching Culham with a 'Worcester Christmas Market' railtour from London Paddington to... well, Worcester.

Saturday 29th November 2014

A nice looking scene, but a disaster for the video this still is taken from. At the time, the line between Didcot and Oxford was at a crawl, with the A4 creeping past at around 15mph πŸ˜…

'A Hall On The Welsh Marches'

Saturday August 29th 2015 saw Tyseley based GWR Hall Class No.4965 'Rood Ashton Hall' heading 'The Welsh Marches', which ran a circular route from Tyseley to Hereford and back, out via Gloucester and Chepstow, then returning via Shrewsbury and Wellington.

In this short video, I managed to capture the much missed Hall - whose boiler ticket expired in 2019 - speeding through Abergavenny, ready for the climb up Llanvihangel Bank, on the outward run, followed by the return run dashing through Craven Arms, including a rather dodgy live cut on the going away shot 😬

Enjoy! :)

Another clip of 'No.9' from the archives. This time, we're up on the East Coast Main Line, catching 60009 passing Darlington Station, as it heads south with the Edinburgh to York section of the 'Great Britain VII', on the final day of the epic 9 day railtour.

Enjoy! :)

A trip on the much missed summer series of "Cambrian" runs from Machynlleth to Porthmadog and, on select days, Pwllheli, with BR Standard Class 4MT No.76079 at the helm.

A couple of phone shots capture the "Pocket Rocket" at Machynlleth and, later, Pwllheli.
