NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT PRIZE FINALIST 2023
📷 A brief reprieve from isolation, 2022 by Lily Hatten
This assisted self portrait was taken during a period of isolation imposed by impetigo, a common, painful and contagious childhood skin infection. I remember feeling alone and small in the face of my daughter’s distress, and the intensity of being stuck inside our little flat, fighting this bacteria while the infection raged on our children’s skin for a month. The only reprieve was when we made it down to open water when no one else was around. The normal, unremarkable brutality of family life.
💕 Mum's the word this week - literally. We're sharing portraits from our NPPP finalists of, by or with their mothers.
