I love going to the viewing area at Gerald R. Ford International Airport to watch and listen to planes! Ever since I was a kid, I've loved going there. I've been going there a lot lately because I desire to travel and to go places I've never been to before. I'm not sure what God is up to, but I'm praying that I'll get to travel soon! There's so much freedom in seeing different places and moving from place to place. Not having to be tied down at all. Just going where God takes you. I've always longed to travel and coming to this place just inspires me even more!

So, these shots are from a couple weeks ago when it was warmer out than today, but I just felt like God wanted me to post them today. They are from East Paris Nature Park down by Gerald R. Ford International airport and not only were the colors and the light just beautiful, but there was a certain stillness, a peace, a calm in the air and everything was so silent. My favorite shot was of the single Canada goose that landed just by itself in the golden pond. It was so quiet that one could almost hear a pin drop and it came in so soft and so gracefully. I love how isolated it was in the landscape. It felt as though everything in nature just stopped for that one goose and all eyes were on it.

I feel like God is saying through this photo, that maybe some of you are just thinking that you’re ordinary people walking around this earth and that there’s nothing special about you. Like this goose that’s just an ordinary goose, but God set up that special moment for this goose and it shows His beauty, His grace, His love just as He is going to do for you. You show His beauty to the world because you are made in His image and you are His.

I'm so glad I went out to the Lakeshore tonight! Not only did we have warm weather, but I was also greeted by a rare sight that I don't think I've seen in Holland. The colors of the sky were amazing and the haze on Lake Michigan was very ethereal. There was a deeper stillness and calm that I really haven't felt before either and a deeper peace and beauty. It's like the peace and beauty in God's heart is so deep that there's no end and He keeps pouring it out on us through nature!

So, I have been slowing my process down of how I edit photos and how I choose them because I do find that I'll edit them really quickly and think they're good, then go back to them and notice that they need to be changed again. I think I enjoy the process more that way rather than putting a lot of pressure on myself to just post. Photography is a gift that I have been given to enjoy it and I just want to take the time to enjoy the whole process.

So, without further ado, I had a great time at The Highlands by Blandford Nature Center almost a week ago which was filled with pleasant surprises.

I am learning to follow the nudging of the Holy Spirit, so last Saturday I sensed to go to Rosy Mound on the fly and I wasn't disappointed! The light was beautiful and there were so many Gulls! I love the transparency of their wings in the right light and I love all their different wing positions! They are one of my favorite birds even though they are common as apple pie lol! :) I walked all the stairs with my lens which I was sore for awhile lol! :) But it was sooo worth it!

Driving home, I was just thinking about how scared and nervous I used to get when I first started driving. Albeit it was before Googlemaps or Mapquest, but even then I was just realizing that I don't second guess myself as much and I'm not as nervous. It also made me look back on the person I was back then compared to who I am now and how I've grown and matured. Though I still need to work on a lot of areas in my life, I'm definitely not where I was and God has showed up for me time and time again. I have never been alone.

Although these pictures weren't taken tonight, the location, East Paris Nature Park, is where I first practiced bird photography and improved at it. My picture taking has improved over the years and I'm grateful to be pursuing it still.

This is my shot of the waves crashing on the lighthouse in Grand Haven on Friday when the waves were huge! At sunset the underneath the clouds were being painted purple and there was a thin line of orange along the horizon.

I have been falling in love with kayaking and it adds so much to photographing birds and wildlife as I get to see things from a whole new perspective. Last Sunday I got to kayak the Macatawa River and see so many birds!
