Been playing with the Fujifilm Instax mini EVO Cinema camera for the last month. It was an “impulse” buy that I had pre-ordered. I have zero experience using the Instax cameras - they’ve been around for a while - so I have nothing to compare it to.

What I enjoy:

The generation effects (1930-2020); images are saved digitally on the camera and can be transferred via Bluetooth to your smartphone using the Instax app; you can print saved images from the app to the camera (and this includes any images you have saved on your phone); a separate app removes reflections when you scan the image.

What I don’t enjoy:

Film packs contain 10 exposures but I’ve yet to be able to print to all 10 because the camera errors out and I lose a print or almost a whole cartridge; the camera locks up and a pin is needed to reset it.

Haven’t played around too much with the video portion yet.

Such a great opportunity!

For me, I find it difficult to get good woodland images in black and white - so many greens, grays, browns that blend into one another. Yet I am still challenging myself with the monochrome setting in my camera. We all can't be Ansel Adams.... (tossing my camera to the wind...)

Had to change the name of this album because there’s more than Polaroid in the instant film game. Introducing a couple of images from my new toy from Fujifilm - the Instax mini Evo Cinema!

Members of the camera club I belong to were challenged to identify their top five images of 2025. After ranking our own, we were tasked with ranking each others' images. It was an interesting exercise in that 1) going through 12 months and several 100s, if not 1000s, of images and whittling it down to just FIVE, and 2) seeing how your fellow photographers would rank them.

These are my Best 5 of 25 ranked in MY order. I will post in the comments the results from the tally.

What do you think?

Trying something a little different- using the monochrome feature in my camera and purposefully boosting the speed to ISO 1600. Definitely not as grainy as film, though.

This squirrel has been a regular this winter. Due to the unusual coloring, giving him the appearance of having a beard, I have been calling him The Brew Master.

Just another place to see my photography.

Just another place to see my photography.

The best camera is the one you have with you. My images are captured on Canon EOS RP, Olympus TG-4, iPhone 13 Pro, or more recently, Polaroid Now Gen 2.

Views from the Eagles Nest on Christmas Day. Built in 1977, the rotating restaurant atop the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis provides some of the best views of the city.

The service was excellent, the food was good - a nice place for special occasions, even if that occasion is just a lovely evening.

Happy Thanksgiving!
