So did an engagement at the Cincinnati Nature Center tonight... in flip flops... walking along looking for spots with my clients to take photos. When I stepped on this guy. Thought I tripped over a stick in the middle of the walking path... He was SUPER butt hurt that I stepped on him and rightfully so. He totally had a NY accent btw. Took a pic of him yelling at me. I of course apologized and told him how cute he was... he told me I was a "stupid Hooman" and slithered away. LOL.

There’s a reason flowers have been photographed for centuries.
Not because they’re simple — but because they carry the same complexity as we do. Fragility. Decay. Softness. Survival. Quiet resilience.

I spent the afternoon photographing flowers, strangers, winding paths, ivy-covered walls, birds in the grass — ordinary life, really. But ordinary things become cinematic when you slow down enough to actually see them.

Before photography, my profession was teaching. And now, somehow, I’ve been blessed with a career that allows me to showcase God’s creation to the world through my own eyes.

There’s something deeply humbling about that. To spend your days noticing light, texture, emotion, movement, and the quiet beauty woven into everyday life.

That’s what I love most about documentary work and nature alike. Every living thing is already telling a story without trying to perform for the camera.

Even the most traditional subjects can feel dramatic in the right light.

A rose can feel gothic.
A walking path can feel haunted.
A woman walking her dogs can feel like a still from a film.
Beauty exists everywhere — not just in the rare or extravagant moments, but in the quiet living ones too.

The way the colors soften, the way the light blooms, the way time seems to sit just a little longer inside the frame… it’s not perfect, and that’s exactly why it works. Film carries the weight of what’s already passed. It turns ordinary places into memories before they’re even gone.

These aren’t just photographs—they’re fragments of something you can’t quite hold onto. A quiet kind of nostalgia. The kind that feels familiar even if you’ve never been there.

This is why I keep coming back to it.
