Another drone photo from Mount Rolland near Sheffield in Tasmania, this photo is taken more from the western side and has massive gums standing at the base. The sun is just catching the top and some of the trees as it sets.

Mount Rolland is a stunning mountain right next to Sheffield in Tasmania, it dominates the horizon and is very spectacular. I took these drone photos at first light as the sun just kisses the mountain and the tall gums with the cattle in the foreground feeding on the lush pastures. Just in front of the mountain, fog fills the valley. It was a surreal view.

I am absolutely stoked to be the winner of the Landscape Awards 2026 in the Landscape category and even more stoked that I was also the over all winner of the competition ! The winning photo was the only photo that I entered and I titled it 'Chapel to the Stars'. This is an Australian Photography Competition with over 2300 entries. There were so many outstanding entries I am humbled that I could win such a competition and was so surprised when I found out. Thanks to everyone at Australian Photography and of course the judges who worked hard to make this happen. Thanks also to everyone that has supported me through my photography passion, without this support I would not venture out and take these photos to share. This is something that I will love to continue.

Hooded Plover - these guys are tiny and sometimes never stay still, we saw these at Mt William NP and I took these photos in the late arvo sun, lucky enough to get close. The light coloured one in the last photo is a juvenille.

When you are camping and sitting by the camp fire and you notice the Milky Way rising behind you, just magic ! A very dark sky at Mt William NP and a rare occasion when the clouds parted.

I forgot to see that this photo is a single image and other than noise reduction with DXO Pure Raw not a lot of editing was needed
