When I created this piece I couldn’t wait to see what it would look like with snow. Almost 4 months later and here we are. I’m loving it even more as it ages.

When I think about how I restarted DubeArt because I was diagnosed with cancer and Social Security denied me any benefits but I couldn’t work. The doctors said that I would be on chemo for more than a year and radiation for six weeks and that neuropathy was a definite. Well I haven’t really made any money and the neuropathy has held off. I was really getting down and feeling like a total failure because I felt like what I was doing was pointless. I’m not making any sales and I’m certainly not making a living. But today I received notification that I now have 100 followers. To most social media people that’s nothing, but to me knowing that there are 100 people who are watching is everything! Thank you all! Maybe what I’m doing isn’t pointless after all.

The Power of a Toothbrush-CS Dubiel
This has been an excruciating couple of weeks filled with endings and goodbyes. We said goodbye to Thisilldous Eatery. We said goodbye to our Aunt Cathy. We said goodbye to our sweet Farrell. And now I’ve made the trip to be with my grand babies so that the adults in my WV family can say goodbye to their Papaw Jim. Too many goodbyes and sadness and loneliness.
This morning I walked into the guest bathroom and saw this and had to take a photo. When my kids lived home I would smile at the full toothbrush holder. Then they grew up and the toothbrushes dwindled down to just two. Washing the bathroom sink, I would sigh as I caught the toothbrush holder in my peripheral. What you see in this photo is filled with power and love. One of the two tiny humans that live here keeps his spare toothbrush next to mine and he brushes his teeth next to me when I’m here. We giggle and make faces and growl and foam at each other. Then we rinse and spit the exact same way. We tap off our brushes on the side of the sink the exact same way and he smiles, pleased, and says,”My daddy does that too.” Then I give him a hug and tell him how much I love him and we start another day. I stand a little straighter and my heart is just a little fuller.
This picture may be weird at first, but you see there’s a lot of power in a toothbrush.
