I’ve been thinking about why we feel more emotionally connected to some wedding films than others.
I think it has a lot less to do with perfection, and everything to do with honesty.
This is part 1 of a series where I share my thoughts on wedding filmmaking.
For me, the stuff that hits home is the real stuff.
It’s a couple looking at each other during the ceremony, and you just know how much this moment means to them.
The unfiltered chats where they’re so excited to see each other and just reflect a bit about what just happened.
It’s the guy on the dance floor rocking it out with his moonboot, still having a great time.
It’s those moments where you just feel, “Oh my word, I feel you. I see you.”
We connect with that.
Why?
Because it’s honest and it’s truthful.
And here’s the thing about honesty: it’s rarely polished, right?
So sometimes the camera shakes a bit during that moment.
Sometimes we don’t have a clear shot.
But I’d rather include the moment, because the moment matters more than the shot being technically perfect.
And that’s why I think some wedding films hit deeper than others.
Follow for the rest of the series.🤍
