Randall Adams Photography We specialise in Portraits, Events and Family Photography Welcome to Randall Adams Photography!

I’m Randall Adams a passionate portrait photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Married to my incredible wife and blessed with a wonderful son, I find inspiration in life’s simple joys—exploring nature, taking long drives and cherishing the moments that make life meaningful. In today’s fast-paced world, where memories often get lost in a sea of fleeting digital moments, portraits hold a unique and eternal value. A well-crafted portrait is more than an image; it’s a legacy—a tangible reminder of who we are, the connections we share, and the emotions that define us. It’s a piece of history that grows more precious with time, serving as a bridge between generations. At Randall Adams Photography, I’m dedicated to creating portraits that stand the test of time. Whether captured in classic black-and-white or vibrant color, my work is about celebrating individuality, connection, and the beauty of life’s moments. Each session is an opportunity to create something deeply personal—an eternal treasure that you can hold onto, share, and pass down. Let’s preserve your story together creating timeless moments into eternal portraits.

Nasi Hako | Perennial Portraits

After we filmed an interview with Shaun Bartlett, with Nasi Hako leading the interview, I was busy packing away my gear when I looked across and saw a portrait.

I stopped.

The light, the setting and the way Nasi was standing all came together in that moment. So instead of packing away completely, I picked up the camera and made a few frames.

What followed was a series of portraits I really love.

Sometimes the best portraits aren’t planned. You just have to notice them.

Christopher & Nikita | Perennial Portraits Outdoors

Some days are about the photographs you planned.

And some days are about the photographs you find along the way.

I picked Chris and Nikita up at 9am in Pringle Bay, and what followed was a 500 km journey through changing landscapes, canola fields, family visits, changing weather and a few moments that simply happened.

The early light was challenging. By around 10am, the sun was already getting quite harsh, but we made the most of it and captured some beautiful images.

As we drove through Malmesbury, we stopped at one of the canola fields to take a few photographs. The cloudy skies had softened the light, and it was exactly the kind of light I was hoping for.

After photographing them, I walked back towards the car. As I turned around, I saw Chris and Nikita running towards me along the road.

I immediately knew that's the shot.

I called them back and said, “Can you do that again?”

They did.

And that's how one of my favourite photographs from the day came about.

We continued on to Darling, where we visited Christopher's family before beginning the journey back.

But I still had a feeling there was more.

As we made our way back towards Pringle Bay, I could see the clouds building over the mountains in the distance.

I knew they were going to make a difference.

And when we arrived, they did.

I had to work the composition to bring the mountains and those dramatic clouds into the frame. Then Chris and Nikita stood together, and everything came together.

These photographs are just a small part of that day.

What you don't see is the driving, the nerves, the conversations, the searching, the changing light and the moments in between.

Sometimes you have to keep looking.

Sometimes you have to trust your instinct.

And sometimes you simply have to say:

“That's the shot.”
