The School Sports Photo Awards is open to entrants of all ages and experience levels, from anywhere in the world — amateur photographers, semi-professionals, professional photographers, students, parents, and spectators alike.

South Africa has more than 24,000 schools with sports programmes, and more than five million students playing school sport every year.

Until now, no competition in this country has focused exclusively on school sports photography. General photography contests exist. Sports media awards exist. Nothing has occupied this specific space — the intersection of school sport, creative photography, and youth development.

The School Sports Photo Awards was built to fill that gap, and to give the photographers documenting it the recognition they’ve earned.

The School Sports Photo Awards is open to entrants of all ages and experience levels, from anywhere in the world — amateur photographers, semi-professionals, professional photographers, students, parents, and spectators are all eligible. There are no restrictions on nationality or level of photographic experience.

All that’s required: a photograph of a South African school sports event, taken between 1 January and 30 September 2026.

Whether you shoot with a professional camera or a mobile phone, there’s a place for your work here.
