Film My Soul, Edenvale (2026)

Join us for an interactive, hands-on zine-making workshop in the heart of Maboneng’s vibrant creative district at Ramushu Art Gallery.

This session is all about exploring what you choose to see. In a world full of noise and constant input, we don’t take in everything, we’re drawn to certain shapes, colours, textures, and moments. Through collage and photography, you’ll create your own zine pages based on what naturally stands out to you.

Led by Thato (Film My Soul) and Minenkulu (Alphabet Zoo), this workshop blends photography, print, and storytelling into a collaborative zine-making experience.

All participants will contribute a few zine pages and after the workshop, we’ll compile everything into a final A5 zine that will be printed and couriered to each attendee.

We’ll be moving around Jozi using the Rea Vaya Bus, hopping between spots and capturing different scenes along the way.

At the Market Photo Workshop, we are committed to training the next generation of visual storytellers in the timeless art of analogue photography. However, several of our student cameras are now beyond repair, and since these manual SLRs are no longer in production, we need your help to keep this culture alive.

We are looking for donations of:

Manual analogue SLR cameras (35mm film).

Must be in good, functional working condition.

If you have a Pentax K1000, a Canon AE-1, an Olympus OM-10, or similar gear gathering dust, please consider giving it a second life in the hands of an aspiring photographer.

Introducing 35Mil! our first-ever Film My Soul interactive film photography workshop 🎞️ A hands-on experience for film enthusiasts of all levels.

We’ll be shooting in a professional studio in Midrand, Johannesburg, using studio Godox studio lights and a single Minolta X-700 loaded with Kodak Portra 400 (colour) and Ilford HP5 (black & white).

All 10 participants will take turns photographing 3 models, each with outfit changes, including .Explore different perspectives using a range of lenses (28mm, 35mm, 45mm, 50mm).

The workshop includes a guided portrait session and film photography talk hosted by and the agenda will be shared with attendees before the event

After the workshop, all portraits will be curated in a limited-edition A5 photobook, with each attendee receiving their own copy.
