These photos mainly of South African motorsport have been taken at many venues from the early 1960s through to the mid-1980s and are being added to as two new collections obtained in early 2012 are processed. In addition to the over 15 000 images on the website, a library of reference material is available and research on South African cars, drivers and events is undertaken.

Here’s Bob Twydell piloting his #12 MG-Morris Special during the Rand Motor Club races at Kyalami in 1975. That raw, bare-metal bodywork, exposed mechanics, and classic narrow wire wheels make this home-built special look like an absolute blast to drive around the circuit.

Here’s the late, great Tony Viana behind the wheel of the Vauxhall Firenza during the 1975 Star Production Car series. Running the classic "Charcoal Braai" sponsorship, Viana was always a force to be reckoned with on track, pushing the Firenza hard through the sweepers.
