Some places don’t need roads.
Just a set of tyres pointed toward the horizon and enough curiosity to see what waits beyond the next ridge.

We found ourselves deep in the mountains of KZN, chasing smallmouth yellowfish on fly through winding rivers and endless rolling hills. The kind of place where the wind carries stories, the clouds move like storms from another world, and time slows down just enough for you to breathe it all in.
This trip wasn’t about rushing to the next destination. It was about the moments in between — long tracks through wide open spaces, river crossings, fly lines cutting through cold mountain air, and sharing it all with my old man. Those are the adventures that stay with you forever.

Some days on the water aren’t made for comfort.

The call hit me at dawn – that familiar itch for the unknown. I loaded the bakkie, pointed the nose out of the city, and left the tar behind before the city even woke up. Hours blurred into corrugated farm tracks, red dust flying, the suspension earning its keep on every hidden dip and cattle grid. No plan, no signal, just the hum of the engine and the endless Highveld stretching out like it was waiting for me.
