Hi everyone.
I just want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and wish everyone every blessing they deserve.
Thank you for all the love and support.
I'm departing 2024 with the last images of the year, all captured yesterday.

Although Jozi is in a state of unfortunate and rapid decay, there is still much beauty to be found in this city of gold.

Jacaranda season.
Always an exciting time for many when we see our suburbs covered in a sea of purple.
The Jacaranda tree as many of us know, is an invasive species which originates from South America.

But over the years these trees have been planted all across the globe due to their impactful beauty.

Pretoria is well known as "The Jacaranda City"
Johannesburg also has many streets lined with long rows of these trees.
Early 2000's there was a ban on planting new Jacaranda's, this has softened since around 2016.
The reason for this in S.A. is due to water scarcity.

Also quite contrary to "popular" belief, Jacaranda trees are actually quite average water consumers, contrary to the general belief that they are heavy water consumers.

Love them or hate them, they are here to stay and every year they create a visual feast for the eyes.

Check out the Johannesburg In Your Pocket City Guide Jacaranda competition for a great visual; spectacle of these trees through photographers eyes.

The beautiful City Of Johannesburg Council is a 138 years old this year.
Established in 1886 she has been through many transformations.
In celebration of this amazing city, I have curated and gathered some images I have taken over the years.
Some of these very recent and some over a decade ago.

No doubt some of you would have seen many of these images before, but I have decided to put a collection together which I hope will be a feast for the eyes, as well as bring back memories for those who have a nostalgic connection to the city.

Let's celebrate Johannesburg.

Feel free to share.

The Creative Spark: My time with the Fujifilm X-T5 and X-H2

On the Fujifilm X-T5 and X-H2, X-Photographer Anton Bosman found something that renewed his creativity. He delves into what this is and how it has impacted his photography.

"That said, in my time with the Fujifilm X-T5 and X-H2, I have once again found myself pushing my own creative envelope. For the past three years, I have worked carefully at creating black and white images, curating these into a catalogue with the aim to sell prints into spaces where my work can proudly hang. With this improved dynamic range of the newer sensor, it feels like a whole new world has opened to me."

Before we delve in to why I take photographs of Johannesburg, I just want to explain a thing about photography. Many people often ask “do you edit your photos”? Of course I do, and whilst this is not a lecture on photography, I will keep it brief. Photos and text by ANTON BOSMAN. Photographers c...

The angel of hope.

For some reason I just felt the urge to make this post today.

Yesterday I saw a friend, a good person and within seconds I could feel their hurt, their pain, agony and mental torment.
It was quite unsettling as it makes one feel quite helpless in the moment.
I learnt of another friend earlier today, who is having to deal with a mountainous road of grief ahead.

All around me, every single day I come across people who are in the same predicament. People who feel that they have no purpose, that it may be the end of the road for them.
Truthfully we are all dealing with hurt, pain and anguish on a daily basis, and escalating financial burdens, and pressured daily routines just compound the issue.

I was walking the streets of Johannesburg with a select private group of photographers one afternoon, when we stumbled upon this lady.
It was immediately very evident that she was living on the streets, and when I first laid my eyes on her there was an absolute jarring look of pain and sadness in her face.
A few photographers looked at her and tried to engage with her.
She was not in any frame of mind to engage with anyone.

I stood on the other side of the road observing her, and then it happened.
She started dancing, twirling and spinning with excitement, almost as if all her worry and pain has disappeared.
I was watching her with amazement as she spun around and danced with wild abandon, as if she was not from this world.

To my eyes she transformed in to an angel.
Now a few years later , I often still think of her, of that moment and few minutes where she danced without a care in the world.
I think of how she inspired me to just let go for a few minutes and feel the euphoria of not having a single care in this world.

She was an angel. And I have often gone back looking for her, I have never found her again.

To all going through a hard time, I would like to encourage you to find a song in your heart.

Dance with wild abandon.
Dance like you don’t care.
Dance like nobody is watching you.
Dance till you can smile again.
Dance until you feel happy and you can can feel your troubles and worries fade away, even if it is for only a few seconds.
Let the song and joy in you become a beacon, and may that beacon bring the right people across your path, people that will ultimately help you turn that corner.
