With our stay at Eland Valley Resort in the Southern Drakensberg and hearing about the snow still up around Black Mountain Pass up in Lesotho, we took on the adventure and headed up Sani Pass.
Got an early 6.30am start with misty conditions along the way and arrived about 9am with blue skies at the Lesotho Border where we paid R100pp and R120 per vehicle, stamped the passports and into Lesotho we went.
Didn’t go to the “Highest Pub” Sani Top Lodge as you NOW have to book days in advance if you want a meal at the restaurant. No more just pitching up and enjoying a meal, drink and the views anymore 😡.
Anyway we continued up to Black Mountain Pass, found a spot at the Highest Point of 3240m and just had some silly fun building 2 ‘cool’ snowman’s (well we thought they were pretty cool in an arb way), playing in the snow, admiring the incredible freezing breezy views and just having a SNOWtastic time before heading back down Sani Pass where it became cloudy and misty again.
Stunning Sani Pass, we just hope it never gets tarred between the 2 border posts.
