Well…we were going to camp at Big Bend Campsite - Umgazana Transkei but our hosts and new friends Maureen and Michael said “no way because you are family friends you staying in one of the spare rooms in our home.” And boy did they make us feel so welcome, absolutely such awesome people.
Anyway…took a few pics of what the campsite looks like with incredible views overlooking the Umgazana River.
From Scottburgh it was about a 5 hour drive to the village of Umgazana - roughly 35km from Port St Johns.
A high clearance vehicle is advisable around Umgazana especially if you want to explore the area for a bit of fishing or just some chilled beach time.
The campsite is off-grid with no electricity but it does have a toilet, an ablution where you must bring your own gas bottle which you connect to a geyser to have a hot shower and a small kitchenette area.
Bring own solar equipment, water, toilet paper and whatever camping fun needed to enjoy this wild beautiful area.
