J. Cole - Punchin' The Clock

"S**t profound, we propagating more profanity
Paid off collections from recollections of calamity"

-Cole’s surprised (s**t profound) at how the creation (propagating) of raps with explicit language (profanity) has allowed him to pay off his debts (paid off collections). He notes how many of these raps are memories (recollections) of difficult times or dangerous situations (calamity). He then goes on to describe one of these “recollections of calamity.”

These two lines also utilize a clever use of alliteration with the repetition of the “pro” sound in the first line, and the hard “c” sound in the second line.

GOAT!!!! 💯✔️

J. Cole - Hunger On Hillside

"I sin, so I can't cast the next stone"

-This line references the phrase “let him who is without sin cast the first stone”, it was found in “The Holy Bible.

It means that only those who are faultless have the right to pass judgment upon others, implying no one is faultless, not even J. Cole, and so no one is right to pass judgment on others.

J. Cole - Amari Hook/Chorus

"Imagination turned a Honda into Wraith"

-This is a classic rags-to-riches bar... Honda is generally budget brand most people can afford, now Cole is saying that his work ethics and ingenuity (ukuziphatha) has enabled him to afford a Rolls-Royce Wraith which costs $300, 000 upwards.

-In fact Cole actually did purchase a Rolls-Royce, Drake once posted a video (2018 or 2019) from the passenger seat of

J. Cole - Amari

"Want smoke? N***a don't choke
I'm a whole fu**in' ni****ne company'

-Smoke is a slang for beef, Cole is addressing his competition likening himself to a 'ni****ne company' as in ci******es company obviously.. Im other words Cole asserts himself as a mogul (a very wealthy, powerful business man) in the rap game.

-Cole could also be saying that the music he puts out is similar to ni****ne, as in highly addictive 💯✔️ something he has said on "Neighbors" with the line 'okay, the neighbors think I'm selling dope'

J. Cole - Freestyle LA Leakers

"After I hit, I cut you off like Picasso ear
Van Gogh or whoever, Goddamn, Cole, you're too clever"

-Vincent Van Gogh was an iconic Dutch in the 19th century. The guy is known for accidentally cutting of his left ear and giving it to a prostitute🤣🤣

-Cole might be saying that after he hits (f**k), he cut ties with that female

J. Cole - Freestyle LA Leakers

"This is chess, better check your board
Who gave the world more fire but got less reward?"

-Cole is saying that rapping is a game of chess and you should check your board (always be alert), however he treats the phrase "check your board" as a homophone since with familiar pronunciation it sounds like "checkerboard" which is exactly what chess is played on.

J. Cole - Freestyle LA Leakers

"I send ni**as to address the Lord
Same flow that put your neck to sword'

-Cole might be saying, he's raps are so hard that they murder every other rapper and make them go pray to the Lord. Cz the only way you address the Lord is through prayer.

Drake - What's Next

"Weezy had handed it off, I still got no fumbles"

In American Football, a “fumble” is when an offensive player loses possession of a ball before scoring or going out of bounds.

“Weezy” is Lil Wayne’s nickname. He signed Drake to his label Young Money Records back in 2009, following the release of breakout commercial mixtape, So Far Gone.

Since then, Drake has released countless hits and has gone on to be one of the most successful artists of all time. Drake uses the “fumble” football metaphor to note that he hasn’t flopped once in his music career since Wayne signed him.

A-Reece - Mark 15: 35

"I’m on my second j but I ain’t even getting high
23 stressing like I’m 45, I’m mortified"

-Slick bar here. Michael Jordan wore the number 23 at the peak of his career. He then retired and came back wearing the number 45, which in this case Reece says he on his second J but he ain’t even getting high, which could be a reference to how MJ didn’t jump as high as he used to back when he was a at his peak.

But then of course Reece has been smoking so much trying to deal with all that he’s going through, yet he’s not getting high even though he’s on his second joint.

(A-Reece pen game 🔥🔥)
