I took a trip to Muizenberg this past Easter weekend and that was when I captured this. The scene looked like one of those old photos you stare at for so long because it makes you remember something from your past. A fond memory maybe or a sad one perhaps. Tell me, why is it that sometimes fond memories make us sad?

There's no particular difference between me and my work. No resistance to the strangeness and bluntness of it for someone who comes from where I come from. We admire things both in silence and at a good distance because those things have a very strong power to reveal just who we are and what our intentions are.

So look closely, very close.

Yet it has the power to make my days memorable. This was me, jazz & that old light having a great time during the rush hour in the city. Shot this with my Nikon D7000 (I miss that camera so much🥺). Know what else I miss, my pink crocs which still work kezona, don't know why I haven't worn those though🫠ndibengu pinky-pinky😂(maybe it's the PR I have to do when kids compliment the shoes🫣everywhere I go)

Here's a random fact |

I struggle taking compliments or receiving them well without overthinking them. However there's a strange feeling I get. Warm, direct and calm when children give me compliments. I think with them I actually give the desired reaction other people wish I'd give when they give me compliments🫠

That childlike, giggly, charmed put my hands together and swing my dress side-to-side while smiling looking at my feet, reaction.

Sanibonani,

Apparently I'm supposed to show my face often so my audience knows who's running this page. And see who's shooting & narrating these stories that I share and I'm afraid I struggle with the "face showing" part🥲 of this social media thing.

I'm supposed to do a little "get to know me better" post at least once a month. Share a random fact about myself which won't be so random once I share it though😮‍💨

I tried this last year then I got swallowed by my work load and forgot all about it so lets try this again.

Call me Igu. I'm a 31 year old visual storyteller based in Site C (Khayelitsha, Cape Town) and yes I represent Site C💛

Few Facts About Me.
1. I eat a lot of Kale, like a lot. It's a staple in my diet, including eggs.
2. I have an increadible witness for the golden hour (sunrise or sunsets), I find them so calming & appealing.
3. I love taking long walks. Sometimes I take my camera out and snap a photo but sometimes you'll just find me standing there and taking it all in, to someone watching me I probably look lost or crazy but I'm mostly very happy just being in that moment.
4. I easily find magic and beauty in almost anything which is why I fall inlove too easly.
5. I love flowers and having them around my living space but I can't have real ones indoors because of my allergy so instead I buy artificial ones.
6. I love anime.
7. I find old things, architecture, abandoned buildings or homes attractive. I guess I just feel and relate to the grief in them.
