It has been great to be able to get back to my first love of photographing performing arts over the last couple of weeks. Even better to shoot for my old partner in crime TP Chapman for Amity International School, Abu Dhabi's production of Matilda Jr! Getting on stage for the rehearsals allowed me to get get up close with the cast which is what I enjoy most. As Robert Capa said, "If your photos aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.”

Shooting the drama production at Brighton College Abu Dhabi last week, I really noticed the stage palette. The muted blues, deep browns, and rich to***co tones - was a gift to the lens. I pulled a swatch because it captures the intentionality behind these school shows. They aren't 'just thrown together.' Every tone and texture is a deliberate choice, and is elevated by the lighting design from Dune Productions, which subtly yet definitively sets the entire mood.

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to travel London to rejoin with ISTA - Global Learning Through the Arts to photograph their TAPS Festival. The Commedia dell'arte work lead by Cheryl Stapleton was, as always, a favourite muse!

When I look back to where this all started in 2012, it feels like a different lifetime. I borrowed a camera to shoot my first event because mine just wasn’t up to the job.
