Artwork 'Look Down' is now abandoned in the desert by the Italian artist Jago in Fujairah, UAE.
JAGO is an Italian artist working in the field of sculpture, graphics and video production.
A child in a fetal position, a future already marked, a heavy chain nails him to the ground, it is called “Look down”, the signature of the work is that of Jago.
It was the beginning of November when an unusual sculpture appeared in the center of Piazza del Plebiscito, one of the central squares in Naples. The white marble baby — laying down on the bare ground chained and curled up in fetal position — surprised many Neapolitans who didn’t know that it was the work of the Italian artist Jago titled ‘Look down’, and that he devoted it to the most vulnerable victims of the lockdown — the poor.
JAGO “abandoned” the work in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples in the middle of the night. An image of great impact, an invitation to reflect on the condition of widespread poverty that is increasingly widening its mesh. Look down, instead of lockdown.
In 2019, on the occasion of the ESA (European Space Agency) Beyond mission, JAGO was the first artist to have sent a marble sculpture to the International Space Station. The work, titled “The First Baby” and depicting the fetus of a child, returned to Earth in February 2020 under the custody of the mission leader, Luca Parmitano.
After being exhibited for 6 months in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples, the artwork Look Down is now abandoned by the Italian artist Jago in the desert sands in the Arab Emirate of Fujairah.
