Can I tell you something I see all the time?
You started your business a few years ago, found a photo you liked of yourself, maybe had a friend take a few more, and thought, “Great. That’ll do.”
And honestly? It probably did. At the time, those photos represented you and your business pretty well.
But fast forward a couple of years and your business has changed. You’ve changed. You’re more confident, you’re doing bigger things, you’re probably working with different people and charging more than you were when you first started.
And yet… you’re still using the same photo everywhere
The one on your website, the one on LinkedIn, the one on Instagram and the one you send when someone asks for a headshot.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that photo. It’s just that it might not be you anymore.
This is one of the reasons I love personal branding photography. It’s not really about getting a “nice headshot”. It’s about creating a collection of images that actually reflects where you are now — how you work, your personality, your expertise and all the little things that make your business yours.
Yes, we’ll get the beautiful portraits too, but I also want photographs of you actually doing what you do. Because those are often the images that tell your story best.
So if you’ve looked at your website or LinkedIn recently and thought, “Hmm… that doesn’t really feel like me anymore,” maybe it’s time for an update.
Not because there’s anything wrong with the old version of you. Just because you’ve moved on. 🤍
