A camera can tell a lot about the time it was made, and this example from 1948 is no exception.

The post-war body remains in beautiful condition and good working order, with the typical bubbles found on cameras from this period. It is paired with a Summitar 2/5cm lens, while the sharkskin leather covering gives this particular example its distinctive appearance.

A small detail, but one that makes this camera immediately recognisable.

Among the many special editions Leica has produced is this Leica MP3, created in collaboration with the Leica Historical Society of America (today known as LSI). The edition was limited to 1,000 units, half in black paint and the other half in chrome, and can be considered a modern interpretation of the iconic Leica MP. The MP3 combines classic design cues from the Leica M3 with the built-in light meter known from the Leica MP.
