So Ava rocked up for a shoot at the Norwood studio Cog Creative Space with a perfect range of tops for her headshot shoot! Nice variety of necklines, textures and styles - and all pieces she loves and feels great in. This is half the challenge for people (besides the idea of having a camera pointed towards them at all!) and I thought it would be good to showcase the range that can be achieved from the same lighting setup with changes in outfits. Besides her excellent style it needs to be said that Ava, just 14, had SO much relaxed confidence during her shoot that I would 1000% recommend her to any talent agents in SA to snap her up! She is new to Adelaide and looking to connect with an agency to start her acting career. I can't wait to work with her again! :)

What a night! The Australian Cinematographers Society held its 56th National Awards in Adelaide on Saturday, hosted perfectly by Ray Martin. The National Wine Centre was a great venue and it was so nice to see so much talent in one room! I set up my usual media wall studio and ran around like a crazy cat all night with my 2 cameras trying to capture everything. What a treat to see the team from and to meet some of the camera reps from around Australia - shout out to Zach from , amongst others, who helped me lug my gear out when they kicked us out if the venue :)

What a FUN shoot with the amazingly talented for her upcoming show 'Aged to Imperfection'. Mel's stylish look for the shoot inspired an 80s playlist to help us get into the groove for these sassy expressions! Her graphic designer has done an amazing job with the posters and promo tiles (check them out on her insta). Mel is an amazing performer and an incredible human and I cannot wait to see this show!!! The is ON, and Mel's opening night is sold out people so get to it! Woohoo!

Super fun to work with the crew at Cirqa again, capturing a few new recruits to the team and refreshing some shots for their website and documents. Lots of companies are going for on-location shoots to reflect their office or work environment, and are trying to infuse some personality into their images (plus the ever-useful classic look on a clean background). We bring along backdrops and professional lighting to achieve studio-quality results. So fun to be able to use some of the lego vehicles they have around the office as props - how about this lego ghostbuster car?!! So...who you gonna call?! LOL.

Another really fun shoot with the amazing Marie from . I've done a few shoots with Marie and she is always really interesting to work with. We try to do regular shoots to keep her portraits fresh and up to date for her agency, and this shoot was a focus on colour (with some special effects thrown in!) It's always fun to explore the optical spot with gobos to create interesting patterns too. We worked in the Daylight Studio at , using the 3 colours of the week to explore a solid variety of different looks.

Some portraits of the incredible Ella Frew from The Models, shot recently at Cog Creative Space to showcase the backdrop colours of the week. I love working with the backdrops as a base for the shoot - it avoids the 'blank canvas' feel of some studio shoots and creates an instant palette to play with. I'm working with constant lighting for something different - RGB LEDs are incredibly playful and add an instant energy to the shoot.

One of my regular clients has rebranded and it was great to see their lovely new office space for their new board headshots for their annual report. They even have a resident falcon pair nesting on a window ledge!

This was a great shoot using very simple lighting but I'll admit it was tricky to manage reflection in the windows without compromising the lighting quality too much. The light kept changing in the background so there is a bit of variation in the contrast, tone and colour - but in the end I have embraced that as part of the variety. This is the board of Amplitude Energy - it's always so great to work with this team!

These portraits of Trinity from The Models were shot using LED lighting in the Daylight Studio at Cog Creative Space to showcase some of the backdrop colours in the studio. Having a backdrop stand that can accommodate 3 colours is so wonderful as a photographer with an open brief - we can achieve a lot of variety from the shoot in a short time, and the playfulness of working with colour is really liberating. Whilst I LOVE using flash, the lower light levels of LED, plus the option of changing the colours in the RGB-enabled units, allow for a variation to my 'standard' portrait style.

Trinity was incredible - as you can see from these shots - and I loved working with her as well as her agency! Thanks to Shaun from for assisting and collaborating on this shoot! Shaun shot some gorgeous video during the shoot and I am finding that collaborating and having video capture as an add-on the shoot adds a lot of energy to the whole experience. Thanks to the whole team for an awesome shoot :)
