Caleb’s second cover photo this year for the National Railway Museum’s Catch Point magazine. His first photo was that of SteamRanger’s ALCo 845 and now we have his second photo of SteamRanger’s Brill Railcar on the front cover!

Hooray for Caleb!

The next September 2026 issue of Catch Point will be out on Friday 11 September.

Congratulations to Caleb Jenkins in scoring the front page...well done.

"As part of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the SAR Model 75 Brill railcars, a SteamRanger special was run from Mt Barker to Strathalbyn and return on Saturday 1 August 2026, seen here near Gemmels."

The abundance of wild flowers fills the landscape while Aurizon’s Super Freighter 7PS1 heads through Pimba, SA, in the late afternoon, being worked by ACB 4406 and 6025. They crossed another Aurizon service, the 6913S ore service to Wirrida, SA, with DPU loco GWB105 side-by-side 7PS1, on Sunday, 30th of August, 2026

ACD 6066, GWB 106 with GWB 105 as a DPU at the rear work Aurizon’s 6913S empty ore train to the Wirrida ore loader about 57km Southeast of Coober Pedy in South Australia.

The train was seen negotiating the Wirrappa S Curves on the Trans Australian Railway that links the East with the West along Australia’s first Transcontinental railway line.

Captured on a gorgeous day in the Far North of South Australia, on Sunday, 30th August, 2026.

SCT 010, CF 4432 & SCT 002 work SCT Super Freighter 2PM9 through Stirling North in the Mid North of South Australia while enroute from Perth (Forrestfield), WA, to Melbourne (Laverton), VIC, via Adelaide (Penfield), SA, on Wednesday, 26th of August, 2026.

Note, the rake of double stack container wagons behind the locomotives! These double stack trains have been a staple of the Western run to Perth and return for decades. In Australia, you can only currently see double stack trains between:
Adelaide, SA, and Perth, WA (Vice-Versa);
Adelaide, SA, and Darwin, NT (Vice-Versa);
Parkes, NSW, to Perth, WA (Vice-Versa)

It’s taken us 14 years to get this desired shot! To say we’re excited would be an understatement! Not only did we get the legendary Mambray Creek in flood but we got a train over it too! 😍🥰👌❤️

We’ve got plenty of pics with just a train with no running water but our ultimate goal has always been to get a shot like this!

We see NR37 and NR88 working loaded steel train 3YN2 from Whyalla, SA, to Morandoo, NSW, on Tuesday, 25th of August, 2026.

Vintage 1970s-built Redhen 435 and 1920s-built Brill Railcar 60 pass by each other at Strathalbyn Station; like a scene from the 1960s when the bay platform (where 435 is); would be used by the connecting service to Milang; which would branch off at Sandergrove after departing Strath. 435 is non-operational, and houses the Stationmaster’s Art Gallery, where RC60 is operational; and forms the backbone of railcar services on SteamRanger alongside numerous operationally preserved Redhen Railcars.
